I think it's pretty obvious.. Though I think some people have touched on it, they haven't grasped the full concept.. The song is about Satan, and killing someone before they're actually dead.. Gaining their soul before the body has ceased.. "In starlit nights I saw you, so cruelly you kissed me, your lips a magic world, your sky all hung with jewels".. I mean c'mon, does the bible not speak of Satan this way as well? In this verse you begin to feel that this person had high hopes for his life, at which point Satan gave him hope or a promise, perhaps even selling his soul "so cruelly you kissed me".. I think this is about someone spiritually torn.. And eventually the person cracks under their hard times, and gives on God, leading down a path or destruction into the Devils hands.. "Up in your arms too late to beg you or cancel it though I know it must be, the killing time, unwillingly mine".. This person is saying I never wanted it to be like this, but Satan has taken control of me |

I don't disagree.. "I could fill your cup, you know my river won't evaporate" - very very strong biblical reference.. Many of the lyrics are almost spot on with Jesus' words in the New Testament.. So for the person who hates religion being throw into this song where it doesn't fit, sorry my friend it's there.. More so than a lot of songs.. |
