New Order – Age Of Consent Lyrics 10 months ago
Ultimate sad boy anthem.

The melody betrays the heartache in this one. Really great tune.

For sure about Ryan Adams. There are lyrics in this song that are references to lyrics in Ryan Adams songs: "Love is hell" (love is hell), "burning Ferris wheel" (I see monsters). Also said to be a fan of black metal, and the real smoking gun is the line about crashing a '67 GTO.

I also love the shade in this song thrown at Dawes' front man, who dated Moore (is dating?) after the break up.

He'll be the water if you'll be the wine.

Will you be the wine?

The meaning of this song is straightforward.

For me, a kick ass song to listen to as a southerner gone north for job opportunities. Cultures change and people look at you differently, down at you, simply from being from somewhere. Then you just smile with that big ole southern grin and make your money. All the while knowing how the system works. Gotta see where that money goes.

Too recent to be buried.. however I'll let you know what I think.

"One night to speed up truth"

That's this song, pretty much.... It's a one night stand. Maybe more than that, maybe one night with someone you've had prolonged contact with, maybe a non-traditional one night stand. Maybe more than one night. But always just for what a one night stand is meant for, well, at least for one person..

The other, what it meant to them, well it's captured in this song. We are a growing breed of wolves teeth to be sure.

The correct lyric is "I'm leaving cuz you don't FEAR what you're dreaming of."

Powerful.

Dave Matthews Band – Some Devil Lyrics 6 years ago
When I heard this song live (11/20/2010, before their hiatus) Dave changed the last verse for the better. At least, for the better of understanding what this song is trying to convey.

"I wish I was dead and you were breathing, just so you could see" is what he changed from "Some devil is in me...."

He's heartbroken. And knows how special it was, but probably thinks the only way she'll see it too, or at least when it will hit her, is when and if he died. It makes sense to me, but I'm drunk so maybe this isn't being conveyed as clearly as I understand it.

Dr. Dog – The Way the Lazy Do Lyrics 9 years ago
"Then today a rock rolled over
Came to life to kill the clover
Left to way the way the lazy do"

Easily one of my favorite Dr. Dog lyrics. The way the lazy do, coming out of life rather than being brought into it.

Dr. Dog – How Long Must I Wait? Lyrics 11 years ago
I see a more spiritual reference. "I sang your promise" and "I walk with you everywhere I go" seem to be directed towards a deity of some sort.
He goes on further to say "All I see is the same, The picture is the frame". (I love this line) It's the sort of perception one might get if they get caught up in life. The picture being life, and the frame (what holds the picture up, or what distinguishes the picture) is the same. He's trapped in this thought that is overwhelming him.
He then calls for his soul to see what "my time will be". He's asking for solace. He wants his soul to be content with the time he has and will have. Then finally he screams out "How long must I wait." He wants this solace. That's my interpretation.
