This is a sweet song. And as sweet and lovely as it is, it is definitely, clearly about drug addiction. In case there was any doubt, the line about brain disintegrating (not emotional numbness, as caused by anti-depressants) I think makes it crystal. I don't even think she is necessarily involved with this person...the intent behind this song is too benevolent for that. How many lovers urge their lover to leave and go home (not come home but go home) ? I think this is just a friend, just someone she loves who is incredibly disappointed in how things have turned out. |
