Although the idea of the Gypsy being a satellite is interesting, I think he's a being who's lost his planet. The idea of a satellite experiencing lose of "senses" is clever, as is the notion of it experiencing emotion. However, the desperateness of the lyrics would suggest he's a being ("aching for the warmth of a burning sun", "traveling in panic", "Screaming for a future that could never be ", Frightening him..). The idea of it being a fallen angel is also interesting, but it may be out of sync with the rest of the album. The cover art suggests cataclysm by man's own hand ("left without a hope of coming home"). And, none of the other songs address it. |

The idea of the song being about a satellite is interesting but I think it's about a being; because beings experience fear and panic while satellites don't long for the sun's warmth (but hey that's my take). Before reading any comments it seemed to be about a soul who'd survived the destruction of his world and now must race, directionless through space for all time. (Rather terrifying) The destruction of the planet, if one looks at the cover, would be man's own hand. (IMHO) |
