Radiohead – Pyramid Song Lyrics 10 years ago
I was watching children of men recently and the final scene where theo dies in the row boat right before the ship arrives to take them to safety made me think of this song. As the human project ship represents heaven, dylan the baby represents hope for the future. and the death of theo represents life coming full circle which exactly what this song is about. That the rest of movie itself and the imaginary was really radiohead-esque. One of the reasons why i love the film so dearly.

This Heat – Sleep Lyrics 10 years ago
This song is a lullaby sung by the leaders of the world as they lead the world into nuclear destruction. They promise everything will be the same as before "A life of ease. A life cocooned in a routine of food" and that the people have a "choice" in the state of things and that they have "endless possibilities" in their future and "a taste of paradise", when in reality it's all deceit (hence the album title) and lies sung to keep themselves in power as they (the world leaders) drive human civilization over the metaphorical cliff of consumerism, conservatism, and destruction.

Talk Talk – New Grass Lyrics 10 years ago
this is my favorite song of all time. The lyrics transcend any mere notion of faith (organized faith that is) and there true impact is felt in pure human emotion free from reason; purely spiritual. This is coming from an atheist by the way.

Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark – The New Stone Age Lyrics 10 years ago
Judging by the title (the new stone age) and the refrain (Oh my god, what have we done this time), I would say this song is about nuclear proliferation with the first verse being about the last things you would see before death, the second verse dealing with the leaders of the world feeling remorse, and the final verse deals with the realization that everything you know love and hate is gone.

Thom Yorke – A Rat's Nest Lyrics 11 years ago
This song contains IMO Thom's best lyrics and the rework Jonny did is so fucking powerful it nearly moved me to tears. The fucking hopelessness of it all. And how resigned he sounds to this fucked up fate of consumerism. It fucking haunts you long after you turn it off.
