Three Days Grace – The High Road Lyrics 12 years ago
At first, I believed it was about (like many others here think) how he didn't need someone to help him through, but after Adam left the band, I listened into the lyrics.
"I told you I was hurt, I told you I was bleeding on the inside. I told you I was lost in the middle of my life," this could possibly be explaining how after he got out of rehab, he needed help. Or possibly even before when he explained he needed help with his addictions. But, after he got out of rehab, the rest of the band was still addicted to all sorts of drugs, or alcohol, and that was a negative influence, thus leading to the lines,
"I took the low road in, I'll take the high road out," , "Help me find the right way up
or let me take the wrong way down. Will you straighten me out, or let me take the long way around." This is stating how afterwards, he was still around all these negative influences. When he says he took the low road in, he was saying how he had such horrible addictions, but when he got out of rehab, he was still surronded by those who still do the same drugs he had become addicted too earlier.
So, in a short summary, I feel as if Adam wrote this song to tell the listeners that he was leaving the band before even saying a thing to the media.

A sad story, but I feel as if it's accurate. Feel free to correct me if you feel the need to do so.
