| Twenty One Pilots – Oh, Ms. Believer Lyrics | 8 years ago |

To me, this song is pretty simple. The lyrics tell the story of an elderly couple from the point of view of the husband. This couple has been together for many years, thru thick and thin. Think of your elderly grandparents, who are nearly incapable of self care. Thru the lyrics, it is apparent that the wife suffers from either dementia and/or alzheimer's. The snow and cold in this story is actually age, and its affect on our bodies...slowing us down as the years pile on. She is called both Misbeliever and Miss Believer, which describes her perfectly as she often forgets who her husband is (and sometimes remembers) as anyone who has ever had a loved one with alzheimer's would know the emotional pain involved. The words "Inside her head, in the winter of dead" only lead credibility to the fact that age (winter) has taken her mind (memory). The song ends with this: We get colder As we grow older We will walk So much slower Meaning he will remain by her side, until age takes them both...... |

Has no one seen the movie "What Dreams May Come?" Everyone will get their own meaning from a song, but it's not impossible to see that this song can be about life after death like the movie. The subject in the song is in heaven and has decided to be reborn on earth with his/her soul mate so that they can find one another again and experiance falling in love with one another all over again on their journey thru life to reach heaven again. The following describes being born again. "I want to have the same last dream again The one where I wake up and I'm alive Just as the four walls closed me within My eyes are opened up with pure sunlight" The following is a reassurance to the friends he makes while alive on earth that despite their struggles, heaven is real, and they too will see it someday and will even have a chance again to live life all over again. "I'm the first to know, my dearest friends Even if your hope has burned with time Anything that's dead shall be regrown And your vicious pain, your warning sign You will be fine" The following describes the subject of the song not only reliving life to find his/her soulmate, but to also devote himself to helping those lost find their way, to reach for the skies (heaven) and further, rebirth all over again in a never ending cycle of "LIFE" I cannot live, I can't breath, unless you do this with me. ~we are all put on earth to help one another reach our final destination, heaven and everlasting life. You don't have to be religious to hope this is true. |

| Peter Gabriel – Shock The Monkey Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| In my opinion, this song is about a civilized man struggling to contain his inner primitive self. As Peter has mentioned the song being about jealousy, I believe that he has learned that his wife/girlfriend has cheated recently (Something knocked me out' the trees, Now I'm on my knees) and jealousy has severely disrupted his day at work depicted by his desk shaking and paperwork going everywhere.. Like any of us men facing a situation like that, his whole day is revolving around his inner primitive self wanting to punish everyone involved, but being stuck at work all he can do is try to calm down. As the day progresses part of him is pleading/warning her in his mind that if she really did cheat, that realization is going to cause him to lose control (Shock the Monkey to Life), the Monkey signifying his inner primitive self. So shocking the monkey to life means that because of her actions, he is no longer going to be Mr. Nice guy. Apparently she has cheated before and has lied and gotten away with it (You throw your pearls before the swine, Make the monkey blind). The day continues to progress and he begins justifying letting his primitive side take control by daydreaming that Alpha Males are always in control of their situations (signified by his new, roomier office where everything is kept nice and he is calm). By the end of the day he has decided that he is going to confront her when he gets home and this time his primitive side (instead of his rationale/civilized side) will be in control and he will not be lied to again. (Signified by the end of the video where Peter's face is overlayed with that of the monkey.) | |
