I heard a rumor that this song is about Severus Snape from the Harry Potter series. Even though I am an avid Harry Potter fan, I am having a hard time connecting this song to Snape. I'm not sure if it is even about him, but the title definitely does fit with the series, even if the lyrics don't exactly match. |

I interpret this song to be about the narrator having feelings of inadequacy, especially around the people that he loves. This kind of goes along with what Timma said about it being Lovers' instead of Lover's. The narrator feels like everybody around him is better than he is, and that makes him feel down on himself ("Your strength just makes me feel less strong"). But no matter how much he feels like this, he can't express it, so he just has to accept and live with his "quiet rage". |

I think that the repetition of the phrase "this is the last time I'm asking you" symbolizes that the whole process they've been going through during the rest of the song keeps going, and that it really isn't the last time. |
