REGARDING ALL OF THE "REASONS FOR GOING TO IRAQ" ARGUMENTS ON THIS PAGE

if you want to get down right to the core of the problem, the very broadest form of the reason for the war (and every war for that matter) is just plain fear. the collective human fear of the unknown, strange culture that looks different or practices strange customs. keep in mind I'm speaking objectively about most wars. be it the Romans fighting the Visigoths, the Japanese fight the Americans, the Americans fighting the Muslims, the Nazi's persecuting the Jews, the list goes on. unfortunately, man fears what he doesn't understand and fear leads toward hostility.

also on a more objective thought, the "Greedy Bastards" as EthanReyes put it, most likely underwent years of collage, and started from the ground up working years under The Man before he could even afford an appartment. granted there are a multitude of businessmen who had help, but that is because of extensive networking on the businessman's part.

Now let's see if we can keep that objective mind state for a few more paragraphs.

The common front line soldier is most likely a young person who had no other options in life and to make himself feel like a part of something bigger hopin to 'kill him a towlhead'. this may sound racist, but comin from someone from fort Hood, i can tell you that is what A LOT of them talk about.

both these arguments being stated, i can reassure you that there are evil businessmen who sit atop there thrones like Bernie Madoff, and there are heroic soldiers worthy of legend such as Audie Murphy, but keep in mind that every person is different and every brain holds endless possibilities for reasoning of actions. no two people think exactly alike.

now these things being said i urge you not to explode with anger that someone else you don't know has a different opinion than you, but instead try to see things from a different perspective. I'm not ragging on anyone, simply stating observations.

you know, it's really interesting how both left and right have posted pretty much the exact same explanation of this song and both sides seem to be blaming (meaning wise) the other side, not that you did I'm just typing as i think, but its just further proof how political parties are a doomed idea destined for either collapse or civil war.

i don't think you should make such quick judgments of other peoples understanding of a song, for you are right about the attitude of thrash itself, but the song imparticular isn't about thrash itself, but instead rebellious spirit. also I agree with RyanWolfeh. your argument would work if escape was on Kill 'Em All, but it's not. and before you try to say Ride The Lightning is also about fighting glam, let me ask you this.
How are the exodus and being trapped in an avalanche about fighting glam?

Stone Sour – Through Glass Lyrics 11 years ago
In an interview with Corey, it was stated that this song is about his feelings toward the music industry and how it barley resembles what it used to be, instead now being fill with talentless and lazy rich kids (epidemic of the mannequins) as is made apparent in the video in which the rich swingin party is gradually revealed to just be cardboard cutouts and are all, even the house and pool, are one by one carried away. the video also ends with the band in front of the HOLLYWOOD sign which reads HOLLOWOOD which itself turns out to be another cutout.

Staind – So Far Away Lyrics 11 years ago
the moment i heard this song it stuck in my mind as a rock concert and the indescribable euphoric feeling of playing your first gig to a sea of admirers and spilling your heart and soul into your music when words and thoughts and feelings you've never showed anyone before is met with god like love and connection as the vibration of the bass and the love of the crowd sends tingles through every inch of your body.
and while onstage you notice something. there is no malice. there is no hatred. there is none of the evil that plagues our world, there is only 10,000 people exactly like you, hearts mended into one as all of the worlds cares are ripped away leaving you with nothing but the sheer brotherhood of music holding us together, finally able to not be ashamed for who you are. you question your senses, "is this real? is it just a dream? how could something so beautiful exist in this harsh, cold world? i must be dreaming.
and the thing with concerts is that once you've felt the transcendence of music, truly realized the potential of the human heart, you never want to leave... unfortunately all things must come to an end as you scream to the sky for waking from this beautiful dream not to come.

anyone else feel similar?

Metallica – The Frayed Ends of Sanity Lyrics 11 years ago
I believe that it is about not just declining into ones own shell of paranoia, but victim mentality and escapism (to an extent) as the cause of this. one line in particular kinda points out this tone for me,
"I have fallen prey to failure."
The use of the word 'prey', rather than describing himself as a failure, implies that his deteriorating mental state is caused by being targeted by failure he thinks is not his fault, hes even full out blaming his condition on someone else, be that an alternate personality, or 'voices' (twisting under schizophrenia) but somewhat coming to realize this by the end of the song. (myself is after me)
