By "one's for his wife, one's for the one who loved him at night" I took it as meaning that there were two hearses carrying two people in it. Which means that even tho they plotted against him, their plan failed and backfired in such a way that killed them both, but didn't implicate him because the preacher and his brother both said he was a good person, meaning they didn't know about him cheating on them and (possibly) killing them both. By "he's not the only one with a secret to hide", I took it as meaning that either his wife or mistress or both had been also cheating on him. |
