| Queens of the Stone Age – How To Handle A Rope Lyrics | 13 years ago |

"Too late to think or filter anymore A bitter pill to swallow Maybe you're in a blanket haze of ephedrine I'm wonderin' where the hell you been So come on and right this wrong, the rope" (Nick's growing meth addiction, Josh's concern, and hopes that Nick will fix it) "You got it all right You got a feeling I'd rather open up my wrist, let it go You got it all right You got a feeling 'Cause devils and ropes around your neck Cursing them all And you can't hear it Can't hear it" (Nick is oblivious to how bad his problem has become and how meth has taken control of his thoughts and his life. Josh can't reach him and would take suicide over having the "devils" drug rule his life. ) "Ain't got a mind to deal with anymore Saboteur, infiltrator, and maybe more If you're not blind and deaf, how can we pollute your head? So come on and right this wrong, the rope" (Again, Nicks mind is polluted. The drugs have taken over. How can be blind to whats happening, or not hear the voices of reality?) "And I got it all right I got a feeling You'd rather open up your wrist, and let it go I got it all right, yeah I got a feeling 'Cause devils and ropes around my neck can't even know 'Cause they can't hear it Can't hear it Can't hear it Can't hear it" (Josh gets it...Nick would rather die than give up the dope. The drugs tell him he's just fine, and its everyone else who has a problem. Nicks addiction is screwing everyone up, and Josh feels liike its taking him down too) The rope could be a lifeline that Josh has been trying to throw Nick to help him get the help he needs. The rope, and devils around his neck represent the destruction the meth is causing...and through it all, Nick hears nothing. Just my take... |
