| well, before reading your comment i thought this song described the peak of pinks life. you know he is a rock star and everything having fun. but this makes total sense, specially considering that "young lust" is placed after "empty spaces" in the album. it's like the question in "empty spaces" (how shall we fill the empty spaces?) is answered in "young lust". However as it turns out in "one of my turns" the "dirty girls" were not much of an answer. | |

i really like the background sounds, voices to be specific, on this song. i mean the song itself is great obviously. but you may have not noticed that these background voices have been selected deliberately to convey some meanings, some ideas, besides setting the general mood of the song. in the beginning of the song "but there is somebody else that needs taking care of"... is trying to say that she is cheating on you with somebody else ( according to the movie, pink is being cheated on). somewhere in the middle of the song: "Ooooh, babe when I pick up the phone (Surprise, surprise, surprise...) There's still nobody home." it gives me goosebumps every time i hear this part. the background voice is incredibly sarcastic: there is no surprises. i know that there won't be anybody home. |

nice comment. this song is about human being trying to explain things in the universe, trying to find answers. i was gonna put sth like this as a comment on this song, but you've already done it. so I'm gonna add some of my opinions to your interpretation. Over my shoulder a piano falls Crashing to the ground IMO piano is a symbol for art, specifically music, and this part means that we can not explain the beauty in art by science, but it, art, is a huge part of everyone's life. I'm breaking through I'm bending spoons I'm keeping flowers in full bloom I'm looking for answers from the great beyond we, human beings, have advanced a lot, scientifically and technologically. many things that were not possible for us before, are now possible. However there are so many things that we cannot explain just yet and possibly never. |
