Lady GaGa – Dance in the Dark Lyrics | 10 years ago |
Speaking about the song for MTV, Gaga said, “The record is about a girl who likes to have sex with the lights off, because she’s embarrassed about her body. She doesn’t want her man to see her naked. She will be free, and she will let her inner animal out, but only when the lights are out.” |
Queen Adreena – A Heavenly Surrender Lyrics | 10 years ago |
i agree with charlietc, that its about masochism. but not so much about loneliness as that loneliness is riddled through it. because its the baring of katies soul and katie at the time was obviously lonely/isolated, not able to identify with others in the same way they do each other, so it leaked its way in. in my opinion it describes her version of a fairytale prince come to rescue her("A prayer for the lover, the willing intender"), a man larger-then-life like god or jesus("i only make love to jesus, i only fuck a god"), stronger then her. who will force her to face "the shit that i sleep in", heal her("the one who can mend her"), break her ("To break down the girl a heavenly surrender") and release her ("I pray for the one who can open my door Let me go through it Oh yes give me more"). in other words she wants a life-changing lover who will break her in through violence and sex, and deliver her some kind of judgement/punishment("Set me free by your weighted autonomy") and she'll give in cause its her "heavenly surrender" and it frees her, it mends her in a way. |
Hilltop Hoods – She's So Ugly Lyrics | 11 years ago |
just emphasising the obvious here. as many have already said its about the hip hop industry, and to even more of an extent the creative industry in general. using a once beautiful then misused girl whose been through to many guys as a metaphor. how when they, and in perspective every artist, first "meet" creativity and the business surrounding it in young innocence all they saw was how beautiful she was, but then they realise/witness her dragged, abused and misused by people who think she should be used as investment and they can't look her in the eye anymore. but though they wish they never met her in the end its the only thing that matters. |
Mindless Self Indulgence – You'll Rebel to Anything (As Long as It's Not Challenging) Lyrics | 11 years ago |
this is exactly what i was going to say, but you said it for me so thanks |
Hole – Playing Your Song Lyrics | 11 years ago |
she said she never made the "widow album" and that the only song really about kurt cobain was honey in an interview. i beleive her, well i beleive that she believes that, though you may not agree with this kurts death was a huge grievous impact upon her that took a long time to admit to herself completely(imo). so subconsciously she probably did have a part of her mind thinking about him when she wrote certain lines or songs. |
Nirvana – Milk It Lyrics | 11 years ago |
i think the lyrics are just one of those randomn streams of thought kurt pulled together like many of his songs, each line has a meaning in some way, but they arent particularly strung together. however i do think that "angel left wing right wing broken wing" refers to the government, left wing, right wing, democrats and republicans? |
Kanye West – All Falls Down Lyrics | 11 years ago |

Gorillaz – Kids With Guns Lyrics | 11 years ago |
also does anyone else think it should say "push it real" instead of is she real. at least towards the end |
Gorillaz – Kids With Guns Lyrics | 11 years ago |
i basically agree with everyones opinion here, the song is a little ambiguous in meaning which is what makes it so beautiful. but i couldnt help but think of the child soldiers in africa during the song, how they were put on drugs and brainwashed, living in a life unreal and committing demonic acts |
Miranda Sex Garden – A Fairtytale About Slavery Lyrics | 11 years ago |
a love this album its like a fairytale gone bad. with what someone said about sadomasochism maybe so. i was reading about this anne rice trilogy "sleeping beauty" or something, look it up. anyway its this erotic trilogy of novels based on sleeping beauty where princes and princess' get sent to this kingdom as slaves to be "trained" or something then theyll return back to their kingdom full of "a new kind of wisdom". its all about sadomasochism(dominance and submission etc. not what i read and im not strongly inclined to believing this album is inspired by that but hey it might be worth noting because of the fairytales and slavery part, i guess |
Hole – Pretty On The Inside Lyrics | 11 years ago |
i think this song was inspired by the lifestyle that courtney lived and was surrounded by in the years previously, particularly teen years, after all she did start strip for money around 14 was it? i always thought it referenced the decent of a girl in that lifestyle"slut kiss girl wont you promise her smack" is referencing woman who have sex with dealers and those who can promise them drugs, letting them use them however just so long as they can get drugs. 'slut kiss girl wont you water her rack" some guy blowing his load on her? yeah i know thats a gross though but imo rack obviously means boobs, either way desperation still works its way in, and promiscuity as well "slut kiss girl molasses rot black strap" i think molasses rot is just a metaphor for something sweet gone bad, black strap referencing bondage and s&m. all of these quotes seem to be about desperation and numbness to social morals. then asking whether with her beauty used the way it is, for drugs or manipulation. is she pretty on the inside. or do you just like the look of her ass, the conflict between paying attention to physical and mental sides (though what that other person said about "pretty from the back" meaning as shes walking out of your life) "there is no power like my pretty power" of what ive said before, the girl has been used and she has used others in the lifestyle she is in, to survive all the bullshit she has learned to use her "pretty power" to get the better position, she thinks of it as the most powerful of talents and in her eventual numbness of most "morals" she intends to use it and hide behind it. in this way it is definitely a feminist view, because it talks of the descent that so many women in general have to make to be noticed and make an impact. |
Jamiroquai – Deeper Underground Lyrics | 11 years ago |
i completely agree with disguisdk, this heavier side of jamiroquai should be visited more often, the live versions of this song are even more intense and energetic then their other songs, jay kay really gets into it. the song seems to be about humanity, our society, the threats and destruction we have provided to the whole world as well as each other, and the need/want to dig underground, hide or go deeper within yourself just to get away from the noise and chaos. Because the lights, the bustling, the wars, the mind games have all just become too much. it definitely has an anti-society demeanour |
Queens of the Stone Age – Quick And To The Pointless Lyrics | 11 years ago |
is that jack black saying"i dont even know .. what im doing here? i think it is. the song seems to be talking about paedophilia so much as hes horny for some 15-18 year old girl. |
Jucifer – Amplifier Lyrics | 11 years ago |
yep, obviously about a girl named becky who likes drugs and partying too hard and dies from an overdose, amber seems to like her songs, states that her music and guiter sound(love to hear her sing)are quite good and loud(plays it pretty loud) the rest of the song is just describing what shes like(black clothes looking chic) she was probably made to become kinda famous. then after she overdoses amber speaks of how there was nothing to admire in the first place(nothing to admire just some ice shut in her vains, buried like a hero but remembered as a freak) possibly about a real musician who was ready to be admired by many but couldnt hold her drugs. then she goes on without much of an extra thought(so lets all switch on an amplifier and rock out to the beat)as if she heard that story all the time. |
Angelspit – 100% Lyrics | 11 years ago |
fuck its so long, hope you can stand the essay folks, and trust that someone will appreciate it(if their willing to read the whole thing) |
Angelspit – 100% Lyrics | 11 years ago |
isigned up just to comment on this because imo the lyrics are genius, possibly the best thing about them, people seemed quite confused and there is so much to say Dip my tail in blood ink Write it down in red Scribe the words "Happy meal" Right across your head a lot of their lyrics have referances to new world order/illuminati, and in my opinion illuminati or not this refers to how humans are generally just treated like sheep, branded as a peace of meat/produce, given a number, and herded by government/leaders. their time, life and body devoured by higher classes so very easily yadayadayada Tired of getting walked on Treated like a sheep Don't blame me for all the years That you were asleep imo, this is targeted to those who complain or finally realise about being used and abused, how they'll complain and talk the talk but never walk the walk, maybe referencing to those who want revolution but never step out of their house to do so. the "dont blame me for all the years that you were asleep" sums up the rest. [Relax God is in control Watch the dot Take your meds Obey my demands Trust my dog Time for surgery Relax God is in control Watch the dot Take your meds Obey my demands Trust my dog Shut your eyes you're dead] my favourite part of the song, the chorus seems to come from the point of view of the government/whatever is controlling the goernment and media, maybe writing in a sarcastic/patronising way, the writer still mixing theyre opinions of these people with the way she is singing it, either way the words are directed at the public probably to the more restless or rebellious ones, like a nurse in a psychiatric hospital trying to convince an entirely sane person that the poison they are injecting them with is perfectly fine. that it all in their head. trust my dog, dog is backwards for god obviously, so the writer is stating that these leaders are using god and meds as a silencing tool, time for surgery refers to more future likelihoods then anything, the theory that in the future surgeries will be so common and used as another tool to experiment or brainwash etc. Televised mass poison Spitting at the screen Keep the masses deluded With fabricated dreams this targets the media, asserting most of the shit on tv and radio as poison to the mind, deluding the mass of the population with glamorous images of made up models and actors, idolising normal people and bathing in envy, not being able to appreciate the life given because of "fabricated dreams"(then giving these dreams to them through cheap "lives" on the internet) Powdered God in a bag From the Vatican I want you to fuck off As hard as you can refers to drugs obviously, vatican being the city for the pope, but im not sure if it is comparing drugs to god or comparing religion to a drug?(as in its a temporary numbing and comfort to life in consequence for those around you)the last two lines may be telling the druggies or the religious nuts to fuck off?not sure. Heaven has burst open Now it's raining bones The chaos will erode you Breeding little clones not sure what the first two lines are, but the second two imo are talking about how in this age with all the chaos surrounding us, more and more people are looking up to celebrities etc. and instead of finding their own path they are constantly accepting being "eroded" by society and the media while striving to be their idols instead of themselves, or could be indicating the numbers of clones after the popularity of scenes(like punk, goth, grunge etc.) and the love of comparing new talents to old ones(eg. the new johnny depp, the new jrr tolkien) possibly both. Born of a fallen rib From the monkey's womb Overcooked by cathode rays Evolved to consume first two lines allude once again to bible references, born of a fallen rib; adam and eve story of eve created from adams rib. from the monkeys womb refers to evolution, was probably put together in some kind of sick irony in mixing evolution with the bible. cathode means negative electric charge, this again speaks against the overuse of electricity, how it surrounds us enough to cook us, evolved to consume speaks for itself. Eating from the butcher's slab Becoming what they meet Restrained and roasted while they gorge Strapped into the seat this speaks of the masses just swallowing whatever is placed in front of them, metaphorically and literally, its basically that "you are what you eat" saying, what i receive from it is an image of the average working human, strapped into a seat greedily eating whatever is set before them while they themselves are unknowingly roasted and devoured by a masked other. Bathing in your arrogance Dining will ensue God made me a cannibal To fix problems like you for one this may be speaking from the leaders(cant think of a better term) perspective again, of their hate for the majority of the population, seeing them as a problem and that what they were doing is right. then there is what that other guy said, how cannibalism is a way of saying they are feeling overwhelmed, maybe the writer is just so overwhelmed by the arrogance and ignorance accepted so easily by most around them they have fantasies of just eating them all and putting them to some use, maybe even draining them like a vampire psychologically and emotionally as a way to deal with this overwhelming numbness. overall it seems to speak from the view of an observant human being who as they notice and consider more and more theories and information on a worldwide perspective begin to detach themselves from the world(shut youre eyes youre dead) and gain a numbness and sadism for those around them, a passive aggressive fuck you kinda attitude(i want you to fuck off as hard as you can) gaining frustration, because they are quite sure that everyone knows what is going on yet no one moves. tell you the truth these lyrics speak more of the core of problems a core that resides in many seperate problems not just in politics and society, but angelspits lyrics do consistently speak of illuminati/new world order subjects, and seem to express this in a very sadistic way. |
