I think it's a basic description about youth in general. "Shadows settle on the place, that you left. Our minds are troubled by the emptiness. Destroy the middle, it's a waste of time. From the perfect start to the finish line." I think it talks about moving from one town/place to another. Talks about how at certain points in time, we feel empty, and we feel alone. It talks about "perfect start" (Probably meaning when we were born because we had no troubles of our own) to "finish line" (Most likely meaning death) "And if you're still breathing, you're the lucky ones. 'Cause most of us are heaving through corrupted lungs. Setting fire to our insides for fun collecting names of the lovers that went wrong the lovers that went wrong." Heaving through corrupted lungs could be referring to how some teenagers smoke, and it harms their lungs. Setting fire to our insides could be directed at the burning sensation you feel after consuming some type of alcohol. Collecting names of lovers would naturally be about young love and how love is found and is sometimes lost. "And if you're still bleeding, you're the lucky ones. 'Cause most of our feelings, they are dead and they are gone. We're setting fire to our insides for fun. Collecting pictures from the flood that wrecked our home, It was a flood that wrecked this..." This is probably talking about teenage depression and how people feel that constant sadness and emptiness. Where their feelings are literally dead. Collecting pictures (etc) could mean looking back on old memories from the past. (Or it could literally be that there was a flood that wrecked the home..) "Well I've lost it all, I'm just a silouhette, A lifeless face that you'll soon forget, My eyes are damp from the words you left, ringing in my head, when you broke my chest. ringing in my head, when you broke my chest." That could be referring to how usually, people from our lives at young ages end up becoming memories which fade. You lose contact with people that you meet after you hit a certain age or after they move. The second part could be talking about love lost or friendships ended where someone said something hurtful that caused tears, and the feeling caused heartbreak and the words constantly rang in their head. |
