Opeth – Advent Lyrics 11 years ago
I was never one who listened to growl vocals, I was always more a prog fan. Because of that I only got into opeth when Heritage came out. That is still my favorite by the way. I'm just starting to enjoy the other albums as well, especially Damnation and Morningrise. 'Advent' is my current favorite 'growl song'. Non-growl? That would be either 'Folklore' off Heritage or 'To Bid You Farewell'.

Rock on.

PS. I'm also a radiohead fan. Don't hit me.

Opeth – Famine Lyrics 11 years ago
I've never understood comments like this. If you disliked Heritage, don't listen to it, because it just means you're either not intelligent enough to appreciate its themes or you're too stupid to look beyond genre and listen to something other than death growls for once. Heritage is the best Opeth album to date, and Famine especially is a shining example of musicianship. As for 'awful transitions', what the hell are you talking about? The transitions are smooth, at least smoother than they are on, for example, 'Morningrise'. I think my eyes obtained two more senses while reading your comment. I can literally smell and taste the shit coming out of your mouth just reading it. Disgusting.

Pink Floyd – The Hero's Return Lyrics 11 years ago
What really links this to the teacher from the wall are the lines:

Sweetheart, sweetheart, are you fast asleep? Good
Cos that's the only time that I can really speak to you

referring to "The Happiest Days Of Our Lives" where the last lines let us know that the teacher's wife is psychopatic and not at all sympathetic, so the traumatized teacher can only speak to her when she's asleep, otherwise she would just thrash him within inches of his life.

King Crimson – Islands Lyrics 11 years ago
You just gave me an amazing insight on what I thought was (except for Formentera Lady amd this song) a fairly hollow album for KC standards. I just listened to it again and I liked it a whole lot more that I used to. Thank you.

Radiohead – We Suck Young Blood. (Your Time Is Up.) Lyrics 12 years ago
I think this is from the perspective of criminals and gang/mob leaders, who recruit young people into a life of crime and destroy their lives (sucking their blood from them, so to speak). Also I think The Gloaming is a sort of second part, with the "murderers, you're murderers, we are not the same as you" and the "They will suck you down to the other side" referring to those same criminals from WSYB.

Pink Floyd – The Grand Vizier's Garden Party: Part 1 (Entrance) Lyrics 12 years ago
Man this song is weird. Whole album is weird actually. Each member was given space to make one song on the studio sides of Ummagumma. Rick Wright did "Sysyphus", a 12-minute instrumental featuring mostly piano, Roger Waters did two shorter songs, "Grantchester Meadows" and "Several Species Of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together In A Cave And Grooving With A Pict", which consist mostly of animal noises and acoustic guitar, David Gilmour did "The Narrow Way", an 8-minute instrumental featuring guitar and guitar-made sounds, and Nick Mason did this: "The Grand Vizier's Garden Party", which aside from some flute in the beginning and end features only him drumming. On the whole it just all sounds like something only Pink Floyd could pull off, and that alone makes it worth listening to.

Pink Floyd – High Hopes Lyrics 12 years ago
Reminiscing the fun they used to have with pink floyd before and just after DSOTM, but when their desire for succes finally helped them 'reach the dizzy heights of that dreamed of world' (meaning succes), their life soon became 'consumed by slow decay'. So they think back to the time before, when everything was still fun.

Also it could just be reminiscing youth in general, and how the desire to grow up made you forget how much fun you were having when you weren't.

Radiohead – Packt Like Sardines in a Crushd Tin Box Lyrics 12 years ago
I think it's about a man who has waited all his life for something exciting, but nothing came, and now he's older and he's had a hard life, and when people ask about his life he just gets mad at them and says that he's a reasonable man, get off his case. Also I think the title "Packt Like Sardines In A Crushd Tin Box" refers to how business executives see their employees nowadays, not as people but as a workforce, and that they treat them like they were sardines in a crushed tin box.

Also the beat is great.
