I think it's about the last moments of feeling love for someone aka love of someone dying. It's sort of a last fight for what a relationship could have been. The evidence is against the relationship existance, and the other half doesn't seem interested - yet still it just becomes a one-sided love, that is so desperate for the union that it neglects everything for a dream - opening the arms of the other person to the idealized relationship concept in the narrator's head. It becomes a meaningless battle, but I guess that's what it means to deal with heartbreak. You just have to let go. Only the dream remains. |

"climbed mountains for chairs" might even get absolutely political, saying that soldiers climb the mountains for the polticians and the capitalists sitting in chairs. "memorize their words for hope " kinda becomes criticism of the "Hero of War" notion. "Counting these numbers down" might refer to the bombings. |

I wanna mention @[y6b7m27xdkde:16463] great comment. Though something is kinda missing here. I think the grey crusader tails are refering to Vought F-8 Crusader Aircraft, which has a grey tail. From what I gather it was used in Vietnam war. This perhaps hints on a loss of a loved one. |

I just love how they made it so that the last line demands you'll read again the lyrics. Obviously "Rise and shine" is refering to "Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee." from the bible. I also agree with @[funkadelic101:16230] comment, and I don't wanna repeat it so just make sure you read it =) Still, notice that there are some structure, sometimes: I'm lost in you [ elaborations ... ] I'm lost in you You're Jesus |

Though I don't really like the sassiness of being so sure god does not exist, cause it's different than Santa. Santa is known to be a lie, whereas god isn't. You can't prove or disprove unfortunately anything about god so.. making statements like this is just sassy. Those lines though: "We always seek the force above For people without flaws You forgot all about us And for what cause?" Are amazing! We always look for someone to admire and to worship, because we want to believe that there are people without flaws - giving hope for us to be holy, and thus we work so hard about it. |

| Sorry just wanted to say about the 2 verses, 2 choruses, 2 bridges: the strangeness is that it's written like in paragraphs in an essay or letter: all are about the same size, plus he repeats them which make you feel as if they're all the same! Like: bridge, chorus, verse? Does it matter anymore? I could argue that the chorus or bridge, or that the chorus is changing, and the verse is the these are happening in songs, just seperately usually. The only way to conclude that he starts with a verse is the convention of not starting with a bridge, or the improbability of starting with a chorus, cause statistically, most don't. Also, usually the verses are the one changing but if I hadn't have the structure in my mind presented simply as shown here like just from listening I couldn't tell cause when mess up with the time signature like they do you don't think of it anymore as highlights and stuff; I find it interseting that maybe math rock can redefine those things, or disobey them. Maybe they haven't here, but I think they are very close to do so. | |

OK so it was a little unclear, especially after Thom's explanation but I think I kind of get what he says so first of all what Thoms says: The song's lyrics are, Yorke said, "about that feeling that you get when you're in transit but you're not in control of it—you just go past thousands of places and thousands of people and you're completely removed from it." Commenting on one of the song's lines, "Don't get sentimental/It always ends up drivel", Yorke said: "Sentimentality is being emotional for the sake of it. We're bombarded with sentiment, people emoting. That's the Let Down. Feeling every emotion is fake. Or rather every emotion is on the same plane whether it's a car advert or a pop song." Yorke felt that scepticism of emotion was characteristic of Generation X and said that it informed not just "Let Down" but the band's approach to the whole album. So basically he talks about how ones feelings disappear, fade away in modern society. He talks about insincerety of emotions, and how as a result of this you lose the sense of emotions , you just transit from place to place remaining untouched .. this sad event takes place after one is trying to feel touched by people who let him down, some interperted it as people who hurt him all the time he just get used to it. At some point his efforts become histerical and usless, those people have no soul, they only let you down. "Those people", in the spirit of OK Computer, is referring probably to modern society. (Thom talks about Generation X) |

Amazing song about friendship. It's pretty obvious what the song's about - as said before he's lost but why? At first it seems we don't know the reason And when the song finishes we already know why he's incomplete: He's trying hard to reach his "brother" - it's not someone specific, it's everybody it's you, it's he it's she. He calls his brothers (aren't we all brothers, tries to make a closure). He wants to talk to somebody, at first he's actually at trouble but then you've got the chorus which made it clear - people say to him: you can take a picture of something you see, climb a ladder up to the sun, or write a song, or do something that's never been done. Or maybe he says that to himself - but that won't help - meaning you can try and mask your lonliness with hobbies , ambitious tasks and more but always Chris keeps singing after the chorus - he's still seeking for someone to talk to, feeling incomplete, wanting to know how people FEEL. They talk to him in a language he doesn't speak meaning they don't communicate with him, he needs warmth but people speak in some strange language - they're probably being cold - talking out of the point, pretentious nonsense to mask the clear problem he doesn't have anyone. The line of Radiohead "buzzes like a fridge, like a detuned radio" is echoing, and also "Map of your head" by Muse. Talking about coldness and miscommunication. So, every time he shows the chorus isn't enough so what does he do for the ending? He can't end the song like that! So he explicitly says the chorus doesn't work "You don't know where you're going but you wanna talk" - people say to him to find himself in those masking hobbies, maybe studying or working, but he says - I get it but I don't know where I'm going, yet I still want to talk, why do I have to be your classmate or co-worker in order to talk to you? I just wanna talk! Simple closure, nothing complicated! It doesn't make sense ! ("Nothing's really making any sense at all!") And either way, I couldn't find myself in hobbies ("You feel like you're going where you've been before"). Last note: "You'll tell anyone who listenes but you feel ignored" Brings me back to chekhov "Sorrow". I do relate to this, and unfortunately many other do. That's what happens when emotional people are surrounded by cold people that talk like a computer. I do reccomand seeking those ideas in other songs of Radiohead for example. |

I think it's just as saxatils said Losing yourself, or your way in life; Trying to "eet" things up; "Using your headphones to drown out your mind"; And then she gives a little "example" story about a guy who found himself in decision about stealing or not when just at that moment he remembered how things started [probably a mental scar from childhood of not getting enough - because his parents prefered his brother above him]- how he got to the state he is right now - a thief. Absolute brilliant song and sooo relatable; Everybody has their dark times in life [as some said before might be from failure might be from something else] and they ask themselves - "How did I get here? I can't remember... I was OK before ... I wish I could 'eet' ... " And then having the hard long way of getting back to yourself, standing up again. |

" I'm freezing and losing my way I don't need another map of your head I'm freezing and losing my way I don't need another map of your head " As said before, people became like computers - they're being cold to him, and can't understand emotions he's telling them : "Im freezing!" and like a computer they're just showing him thoughts and calculations yet no heart. "I saw a liquid control that gives life to us all I hit my head on it and woke up to know That I was all alone Wearing just socks and a phone Someone screaming like their world might explode " Two options: 1)When he got into a bad situation - hitting his head with alcohol is just a way to escape he wakes up in a bad mood, and you can see he's not feeling well, and the situation sucks. Yet, nobody cares - I think the example here is his boss (probably) yells at him , doesn't care about how he feels just cares about the number and calculations (money) 2) The other option is continuing to talk about the stupidness of people - He saw that some people are getting a bit alive (and not dead and cold like the computer) when they hit their head and alcohols. He tries it only to find out their purposlessness only continues - they're just being meaningless again - hitting their head, getting a hangover (waking up with sucks and phone only) and screaming dumbly like their world might explode. |

Wow amazing song!! He's tired of life so he go to a peaceful place (death, actually I think he means heaven - because of the beautiful house and garden), and the music just like describing the joy and the relief of accepting that you did your part in the world. So emotional (it's waking feelings), great song! |
