Steely Dan – Rose Darling Lyrics

You are too funny:) I see you haven't ever been to Catholic "summer camp" (is there even such a thing 'cause I've never heard of it) nor have you been to Catholic church in a few decades (obvious due to your comment on sexual teachings). Yes, you "could be wrong." Heck, you ARE wrong. Good song, though. As for your interpretation, Sister Mary and brother Jesus might not agree... |

The song could be about empty nest syndrome. When my own 3 go away I tend to lie on their beds and cry. It's genetic, I have learned:) |

Evanescence – Forgive Me Lyrics

I agree with your interpretation. Your last sentence is interesting (not that the rest was dull:). Once you learn to forgive, it doesn't matter if you forget. The pain is simply gone. Lived it with a parent (the forgiveness part) and now none of the childhood memories bring me pain. |

Radiohead – You Never Wash Up After Yourself Lyrics

Sounds like a morning when one has a hangover after going to bed hard. (I don't mean that the way it may...or may not...sound:) Oh well. Picture drinking a bottle of Tequilla; not remembering how you got into bed fully dressed; and then having to wake up early (a few hours later) for a day at the office. That's what I mean... |

Not sure how anyone can find anything good in Jersey, but apparently he did. Love Tom Waits...great story teller. Didn't Springsteen cover this song (or write it)? Oops...just had to look up to see that it's a Waits' original:) |

I think that is what the song is about. I don't believe it's about an ordinary bar pick up. I love this song. I don't care if it's not considered the best song musically. I love it for its melody. Simple as that. |

You listened and jotted down the lyrics? Kudos. I've done that just twice and it's not easy. I'm still bumming that they rejected They Call Me Big Mama because I was missing a few words that NOBODY on the Internet seems to know ;-( |

I like the band and the song. It's so straight-forward (that phrase was swiped:) The song is about someone who likes his/her life...the sun; the beach; friends; boy/girlfriends; and peace of mind. |

Bad Religion – Atheist Peace Lyrics
|
What rights are those? Most laws in our society have their fundamental basis in RELIGION. Killing would not be a no-no if it were not for God. Adultry would be an honor if not for God. Sloth and greed would be blessings, if not for God. Please do tell us what God has done, but be careful not to blur what is God's doing and what is fallible man's doing. Seems to me, too, that there are a heck of a lot of atheists (etc) taking rights away from people with the crimes they commit. Let's lump all of them together and flog them. As for organized religion, it's what God's calls on us to do. And without it, you wouldn't have all the services in this country and worldwide helping the most needy. There's A LOT (of good) to be said about organized religion! |

Let's toast to what seemed like a wonderful 7-yr marriage and toast to phone calls today from a good friend telling me his wife (also my good friend) is having an affair. Not sure why people get married unless they want to have children and provide a home for them together. Nothing a margarita isn't curing temporarily. |

Not a big fan of the band, although this is one of two songs I like. The lyrics are self-explanatory, but today they just mean I have plenty to do before I can't do anything starting Thursday. And due to someone keeping me up most of the night with his/her worry, I am exhausted and working ever so slowly:-( Time for me to fly!!! |

Carly Simon – Moonlight Serenade Lyrics

My favorite version of this song. A big hug and kiss to the person who first introduced me to its video SO long ago. May s/he have a wonderful day, especially with this particular day being very rewarding for her/him. And may s/he know that no matter where I am, s/he will always bring a smile to my face...that quirky laugh; the door slapping her skinny butt in the behind before s/he sat with me on that bench (albeit the wrong side of me when the perfume was on the other side of my neck:); the unbelievable wit that nobody can surpass; the inquisitive and all-knowing brain that is sexier than anyone can imagine; the ability to feel emotions so deeply while reading others so well at times; and the cutest lil' body part(s) above the waist that any living being possesses. Mmmmmmmm. Shame on me. I digress. The song lyrics are self-explanatory, and even though I shall never get my dance, it will always be one of my most cherished songs...for obvious reasons. Here's to Carly, and here's to a memory of someone so special that even s/he cannot recognize it within her/himself. |

Barenaked Ladies – If I Had A $1000000 Lyrics
| 12 years ago

If I had a 1000000 dollars I'd buy a new hairdyer to replace the one that just broke this morning; I'd pay for my surgery; I'd pay for the nurse to care for me (male and handsome, of course:); I'd pay for someone to get drops into my cat who is worse than a frightened 400 lb man; I'd buy a new phone battery since I've managed to lose mine under my bed which I cannot move; I'd pay the tutor to do her lessons somewhere else tonight; I'd pay for someone to cook and clean for my children so I wouldn't be in so much pain; I'd pay someone to clean my house that I just can't clean on my own; I'd hire a Miss Daisy (male and handsome, of course) to drive the cat to the vet; I'd hire a cook to do the grocery shopping today; I'd hire my hair dresser to fix my hair (although even she cannot do that); and I'd pay my ex not to show up at my door first thing in the morning in a pissy mood because he didn't get the message that my phone is dead. That's what I'd do with 1000000 dollars...at least today. (Don't sweat the small stuff. Don't sweat the small stuff. Don't sweat the small stuff) |

Matthew Good – Lights Of Endangered Species Lyrics

No American children go hungry if they have a parent or guardian who wishes to see them fed. There are enough govt programs (free breakfast and lunch) and charities and welfare checks to keep kids from going hungry. Sadly, you can't make every parent put his/her child first. A house is not a guaranteed and shouldn't be. A roof over the head should...and is. We have Section 8 housing. There will always be those who fall through the cracks (sadly) but more often than not it is due to the choices/neglect of adults (and children often suffer). As for Iraq, Saddam took care of 1/3 of his population. He slaughtered those to the north for decades. He denied human rights to Sunnis. He also did not comply with conditions he had agreed to. He also had oil that could fall into the hands of terrorists groups (who could use the money to destroy other countries). I am glad we went into Iraq. However, as with Afghanistan after the Russians left, our leaders have not handled the wars well. |

Then we are pack to your original post. The statue has nothing to do with wars. And even if it did, it would not represent inequality as our military is entirely voluntary/enlisted. |

True, but we do not deny education to people and we have ways for the poor to get money for post high school education. We also have equality in housing (with the poor paying very little). We have voting for all. Our bad economy is the result of our elected leaders, with "elected" being key. We are still the land of opportunity. If you want proof, look at the Chinese and Indians who come to this country and work their tails off (and then sponsor family members); their groups are extremely succesful here. |

You said "futile war" but did not describe what "war" you meant. I may have read too much into your meaning; I thought you meant the actual wars we have fought (which would have little to do with the statue) |

Ideals? Her torch was symbolic of lighting the way for immigrants who wanted a free and better life in the U.S. There was not much more to the gift the French gave the citizens of the U.S. And currently people can still come to this country legally (and unfortunately illegally). We are still the land of opportunity. |

Hinder – Lips of an Angel Lyrics

I love the singer's voice. I love the actual music, too. But it is THE most insulting song I've ever heard. Imagine if a woman were singing this about two guys...one she's sleeping with regulary and the other one she loves; wants to be with; and with whom she holds intimate conversations behind her boyfriend's back. Sadly, so many people AREN'T insulted by the lyrics. Once again I am glad I am of a different generation... |

Wasn't stoning limited to the Old Testament? I think it was. Didn't realize this version was not a cover. Always loved the "sound" of the song. Never took time to really hear the lyrics. Sounds as though she is worried about her future with regard to God (due to her "raging soul"). |

Oops..According to Wiki, "Australia's involvement in the Vietnam War began as a small commitment of 30 men in 1962, and increased over the following decade to a peak of 7,672 Australians deployed in South Vietnam or in support of Australian forces there. The Vietnam War was the longest and most controversial war Australia has ever fought." The troops were withdrawn in 1970. |
