| I think this is a leftist protest song about the political chaos in the late 60's (Vietnam War was specially relevant in the US) and the sense that while Americans were safe in their homes the world was burning on fire. "Cops say people stay inside their homes" is a clear reference to the street movements of students in protests against war. | |
