Rob Zombie – American Witch Lyrics 12 years ago
LOL. You obviously know nothing about Christianity, you arroagant ass, when you stated Satan was a character made up by Christians to scare people. Take your own advice and educate yourself before opening your stupid mouth. You don't want peace; you want to spread your own belief in yourself as center of the universe. Ain't nobody here gonna bow down to YOU! Christians are humans who are fallible, as as I am as I tell you that you're full of shit and you need to fucking shut your mouth.

Forrestgump, you are so full of shit that I can smell it from here!

Blues Traveler – Hook Lyrics 12 years ago
Nope. It's about arrogance and thinking s/he has his "hook" in someone and that she'll always return. It's rather amusing, but the song is great.

Jandek – I Threw You Away Lyrics 12 years ago
'I threw you away so I could play'. Sounds good to me! Unfamiliar with the artist, though. I'll have to check him/her out when I have nothing better to do.

Oh, and the "pilot" is the one who will navigate through the process.

Elton John – Take Me To The Pilot Lyrics 12 years ago
Funny, but I thought the lyrics had to do with transgenders ("for he may be she")...being a virgin (new to it); people being unable to see (glass eye); being viewed as imperfect to others (dented); being on trial and spent with treason (society's condemnation and the prison of being in the wrong body), etc.

Lykke Li – Possibility Lyrics 12 years ago
Oh no you didn't! It's NOT about oral sex. Not everything in this world is about oral sex. (I have to wonder how many times a day men think about it, though:) Others have done a great job explaining the song. Others. Not you:)

Cursive – The Recluse Lyrics 12 years ago
I agree with both of you. I just don't understand why people (including me) perform the same actions over and over again and still expect a different result. Heard the band for the first time last year; I like it.

Shinedown – Devour Lyrics 12 years ago
Little different than Pol Pot, minus the charity angle. Very sad. My good friend from Cambodia survived Pol Pot's army and all the bloodshed; he's now an American citizen and the general manager of a large California computer chip company.

Nickelback – If Today Was Your Last Day? Lyrics 12 years ago
I love this song. I like the band, although not one of my favorites because my ears, for whatever reason, hear generic sounds. But this song is special. How would we each spend our last day...what would we do; where would we go; with whom would we spend it with; etc. I doubt anyone would choose to spend it angry or in a fit of rage. Insightful song with a nice melody.

Gotye – Somebody That I Used To Know Lyrics 12 years ago
Shut up. You owe me nothing just as I owe you nothing. You are the most long-winded blowhard I've ever had the displeasure of knowing. I'm glad you're involved (and also devolved). You'd talk too much in bed. Once again...boring. The song and artist are excellent.

Sting – Brand New Day Lyrics 12 years ago
I love this song. Big changes coming my way and I am so excited for the break of day (huh...a rhyme:) It's one of the few Sting songs I like as his voice bugs the heck out of me. Not looking for love...just a dance partner and someone to eat my cooking, but all that comes after the big stuff...

Gogol Bordello – Wonderlust King Lyrics 12 years ago
Cause it's said tongue in cheek. His life is a farce...a joke...a mirage. Anyone can have sex anytime. It's easy. And by the time one reaches 40 the lifestyle is laughable. He's the king of nothing, but too foolish to realize it. That's why it's wonderlust, not wanderlust. He's not wandering; he knows what he wants and he's getting it...cause it's there, much like a mountain.

WOW. This one rates. The song's about a guy smitten with his new squeeze. He's from Brazil and she's from an area high school ;) The weekend's lookin' up! Woot Woot

The Fray – How To Save A Life Lyrics 12 years ago
I believe you know that you can't save anyone. They have to do that for themselves when they are ready to lead a healthier, happier life. All you can do is love them unconditionally. Sometimes love is enough for them to want more, but often it isn't. And if love won't make them want more, nothing will. Then all you can do is enjoy them during the good times and pray for them all the time (if you're religious, of course:). As for the song, it's good.

Bull. It's NOT about drugs. It's too catchy and upbeat and downright silly.

The Turtles – You Showed Me Lyrics 12 years ago
1964. Covered by The Turtles in 1969. A simple song as all the band's songs were (and most of the songs of that decade). Cutsie was in, which was perhaps the result of war. (We all needed a break from the war we were seeing each night after dinner via Walter Cronkite and black & white TV.)

The Turtles – Elenore Lyrics 12 years ago
Cute song. One of the band's hits. LUV the word "groovy" in the lyrics. I recall the decade when all of us girls had furry neon feet stickers on our bedroom doors; wore hotpants with chain belts; and worshipped The Monkees. Those were fun times coming on the heels of the radical 60's and Woodstock. It was a time of awakening and rebirth, and it was great to witness the first major changes in society. And they were HUGE (not always positive, but nevertheless fascinating).

The Turtles – Happy Together Lyrics 12 years ago
Cripes. This song used to play on the radio. There is NOTHING negative about it. It's a catchy song about a guy who loves a woman and he can picture them together. It's a lovely, romantic, sweet song. And I don't see how it's about unrequaited love. From the lyrics, we don't know that she doesn't want him. Music is what you make it. It's what your ears hears. Your past experience with (and knowledge of) the subject reflect in your interpretation of it. Come on, People. It's an innocent track. Look at when it was written and the differnces between music of that era and today. Gosh!

The Avett Brothers – Please Pardon Yourself Lyrics 12 years ago
Not a fan of the genre, but I like the artist. Looking at each stanza, to me the song is about a woman awakening and something apparently negative happened the previous night. The man with her wishes to know what's on her mind concerning the event. He's going to be supportive and wants her to forgive herself. She's been running (emotionally) from something and it's repeatitive behavior. She apparently has behaved in ways that she doesn't feel represent who she really is. She wonders why he continues to trust her; support her; and love her, and she worries that someday it will all stop and he will no longer be there. She apparently has a drinking problem, which may have something to do with her actions the previous night (and on other nights). She wants to love him forever. He wants her to try to release the news (events) of the previous night. He wants to forgive and forget apparently. "The day will come, the sun will rise, and we'lll be fine." He's telling her to release the negative feelings and see each new day as a brand new start. (But what do I know. I just took my best shot:)

The Killers – Shadowplay (Joy Division cover) Lyrics 12 years ago
It might be a good cover, but it's a cover of Ian's work. And Ian was one of those extremely talented few whose music was well-respected. I like, though, that it's Brandon doing the covering since he's another immensely talented musician.

Billy Joel – The Ballad Of Billy The Kid Lyrics 12 years ago
From a town known as Wheeling, West Virginia
Rode a boy with a six-gun in his hand
And his daring life of crime
Made him a legend in his time
East and west of the Rio Grande

Well, he started with a bank in Colorado
In the pocket of his vest, a Colt he hid
And his age and his size
Took the teller by surprise
And the word spread of Billy the Kid

Well, he never traveled heavy
Yes, he always rode alone
And he soon put many older guns to shame
And he never had a sweetheart
And he never had a home
But the cowboy and the rancher knew his name

Well, he robbed his way from Utah to Oklahoma
And the law just could not seem to track him down
And it served his legend well
For the folks, they'd love to tell
'Bout when Billy the Kid came to town

(PIANO INTERLUDE)

Well, one cold day a posse captured Billy
And the judge said, "String 'im up for what he did!"
And the cowboys and their kin
Like the sea came pourin' in
To watch the hangin' of Billy the Kid

Well, he never traveled heavy
Yes, he always rode alone
And he soon put many older guns to shame
And he never had a sweetheart
But he finally found a home
Underneath the boothill grave that bears his name

From a town known as Oyster Bay, Long Island
Rode a boy with a six-pack in his hand
And his daring life of crime
Made him a legend in his time
East and west of the Rio Grande

-----------

I love Joel. He's made a killing on his music (and rightfully so), but these lyrics are already all over the Internet. (Sorry Billy:). If you get a chance to listen to this song, do. It's as though you're listening to historical poetry. Just a great song!

Political? Serial Killers? Sounds to me like he had a problem that was weighing on his mind and he is going to let it go by going to sleep. Perhaps I'm just a simpleton, but I don't believe this song is all that deep.

Lady GaGa – Born This Way Lyrics 12 years ago
We don't choose our orientation. We choose to act upon it, but NOT our orientation. And God knows from Day 1 that we are fallible and will often fall, yet he loves us each the same. (He loves the sinner as much as he loves the one who unfortunately feels s/he is the saint.)

Lady GaGa – Born This Way Lyrics 12 years ago
It's about loving yourself for all the good that's inside. It's recognizing the warts but concentrating on the positives (for we each have both good and bad). Our differences are what make this world fascinating (if we choose to look hard and deep enough). It's the I AM A BEAUTIFUL INDIVIDUAL anthem regardless of what others see (or don't see) and regardless if I am sometimes down on myself or feel as though others offer more than I ever could.
