You're all so close. In a radio interview last year it was revealed that this song is about John's breakdown in a professional relationship with his... accountant! Slightly adapted to sound like a romance (reference to pillow) it takes a different direction. But initially John's accountant being non communicative was the fuel for the lyrics. Once you know this it makes you smile instead of feeling sad. Go on give it another listen. |
