Jon Gomm – Passionflower Lyrics | 9 years ago |
"we can't see everything.. we can't hear everything" When I first heard this song I heard "can" and not "can't" Otherwise, blown away by the instrumental ability of the artist. |
Great Lake Swimmers – Moving Pictures Silent Films Lyrics | 9 years ago |
"And then the truth The truth was unbearable Oh and imminent" I imagine these lines ring true with more than one listener, such as myself; each for his/her own reasons. It takes a good vocalist to reflect the feeling of the meaning of the words. |
John Legend – Everybody Knows Lyrics | 10 years ago |
I have an interpretation that might alter the way you hear the song on your next listen... What is, to be sure, an "everybody nose"? Well it is a regular, average nose. It is not a big nose, it is not a small nose. It is not a young and pink nose, it is not an old and wrinkly nose. It is not a wide, bulky nose Nor is it a slender, aquiline nose It is a regular, average nose. An "everybody" nose. It is the type of nose that most plastic surgeons have a 3D model of in their room Because it is the archetype. It is a regular, average nose. An "everybody nose"... Everybody nose Everybody nose Everybody nose Everybody nose, Everybody nose... |
Concrete Blonde – Everybody Knows (Leonard Cohen cover) Lyrics | 10 years ago |
I think you are right with it "deals with unfaithfulness". I'm sorry it was almost 8 years for someone to agree. |
Concrete Blonde – Everybody Knows (Leonard Cohen cover) Lyrics | 10 years ago |
Fair comment, but how's the f%$#ing bass on this track??!!! |
Concrete Blonde – Everybody Knows (Leonard Cohen cover) Lyrics | 10 years ago |
I think every comment, including my own; has completely missed the mark. The song is a testimony to the profound sense of betrayal and hurt that can result from unfaithfulness. The poetic genius, the scathing cynicism... are a reflection of this. There are just so many profound (true or not, that is a separate debate) observations about the world, the universe. About human nature, human history (all the dark stuff, unfortunately) As cleverly as they have been expressed, I think it is at least possible that the witticisms are merely a platform to add poignancy to the declaration that his lover has not been true to him and him only. And maybe that meant the world to him. |

Firstly, I think the guitar (and the rest of the music including vocals, for that matter) in this version is brilliant. I have an interpretation that might alter the way you hear the song on your next listen... What is, to be sure, an "everybody nose"? Well it is a regular, average nose. It is not a big nose, it is not a small nose. It is not a young and pink nose, it is not an old and wrinkly nose. Keane – The Frog Prince Lyrics | 10 years ago |
As strange as it may sound, and it seems strange to me even, given that ostensibly they wouldn't know me from a bar of soap; I took this song as a personal communication. I came to think that it was a genuine and personal recommendation for me to cut my ties with this earthly existance. This is a genuine and personal appeal for a response from the author of these lyrics. |
Stereophonics – A Thousand Trees Lyrics | 10 years ago |
I have no idea what the objective truth of the theme of this song is. And i don't care to guess. My first impression was that it was an untrue and vicious rumour that wreaked havoc on the persons' reputation. What came instantly to mind was a part of this verse: “When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal. Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go. Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark.” James, Chapter 3, Verses 3-5 |
Kings of Leon – Pyro Lyrics | 10 years ago |
It's strange but I heard "watch her roll" as "what's your role?" (southern drawl) (ie:"what's your purpose? what's your goal? why are you here?") |
General Fiasco – We are the foolish Lyrics | 11 years ago |
As far as I know, "godsend" should be one word. Also, before "don't let on" there should be "but" which is important to the tone/meaning of the lyric line. Otherwise I don't really have a clue what this song is about. I like the chorus riff and the lyrics are a little intriguing, but I normally visit this site to find out what a song is about. No help yet! |
