To me, I think this song is about a guy who's waiting on a beautiful girl he's in love with. "I know you're waiting on an answer. "And I saw her beauty overwhelming" But she doesn't know if she's really in love with him. But she keeps letting him know there's chance they could end up being together. "She keeps you draped around her shoulders" So he keeps telling himself to be patient and try his best to wait for her. "So don't let go" Well, thats how I see the song anyway. It's a beautiful track and one of my favorite Copeland songs. |

"Bird" Is an old slang for "girl" or like "young girl" so obviously "jailbird" is a girl in jail. Elvis was not gay or bi or anything weird like that. He had a wife and he sang a lot of love songs about girls. |

To me it sounds like a guy is trying to keep their friend from getting hurt. "I'll smile for you now cause you're sad and I'm not allowed to be sad" It's like he's trying to cheer up the sad friend and just be there for them. "I'll burn for you now cause you're mine and you're not allowed to feel nothing" Here it seems like sad friend may have accidently broke the law or something and the happy friend takes the punishment for the sad friend. That's what it sounds like to me. |
