Ween – Kim Smoltz Lyrics 12 years ago
The line should be:

Ween – If You Could Save Yourself (You'd Save Us All) Lyrics 12 years ago
I think the whole song can kinda be summed up with the sentiment of not being able to help those who don't want to help themselves. Someone who's no help to themselves is never going to be able to really help those around them properly. I love the desperation and raw emotion of the vocals and crescendo of the music, as well as it being the epic closer to such a very emotion-charged album.

Ween – Kim Smoltz Lyrics 12 years ago
This song's so spacey and happy, the music and lyrics fitting together so nicely. I reckon it's just about taking life easy, appreciating the small things (understand the mind of a leaf), and living life to the fullest (swim around till the fish float out of the socket in your skull)

Ween – Buckingham Green Lyrics 12 years ago
I love the extended version. There's something very Tolkienesque about it all, reminds me of the ring-folk music of the 70's quite a bit! And I'm always down for a Ween story. my only hope is that there's an extended version of The Mollusk too with a story in it.

Ween – Buenas Tardes Amigo Lyrics 12 years ago
That line LITERALLY came on as I read your comment! Very true. Definitely one of Ween's best stories/characters. It's pretty clear it's about a guy who was jealous of his brother and so killed him, blamed another man and set out to serve justice, in the process getting away with the murder of his brother, appearing as a hero and winning the favour of his grieving mother. Someone should make this into an epic western film, or a short film at least!

Ween – I Can't Put My Finger On It Lyrics 12 years ago
I think it's definitely about a clitoris, but the beauty is that it doesn't have to be taken as that way. It can just as easily be interpreted as being about the things in life and this world that we can't define or explain, and that not being able to put one's finger on it is that same as not being able to wrap one's mind around a particular concept. Personally though, I think Gener's having some trouble finding the G-spot and having some lyrical fun whilst trying to find it.

Ween – Sarah Lyrics 12 years ago
It's about his ex-wife, as are most of Ween's love songs. I always pair this up with 'She Fucks Me' from The Pod. This is like the epitome of Gener's heartbreak coming through in song (it's beautiful but there's something dark and tragic about it) and She Fucks Me is Deaner's little tale of heartbreak.

Ween – I Don't Want It Lyrics 12 years ago
Yeah, it was Gener's chronic drug-abuse and the long touring dates that brought an end to his relationship. The whole Quebec album is very dark and about the fragility of human emotions. Gener wrote most the album himself and his raw emotion is evident on the Caesar Demos, which is the previously unreleased stuff from the Quebec era Deaner just brought out.

Ween – Happy Colored Marbles Lyrics 12 years ago
Too right, mang! I'm sick of Ween "fans" just assuming all of (or most of) Ween's weirder songs are about drug-use. Even their songs that are blatantly about drugs or bagging gays, have deeper or ulterior meanings to them. And you're so on the money about the theme of this album. It's definitely about the fragility of happiness. Gener was going through dark times here, he did most of the song writing on it, and if you can get your hands on the Caesar Demos (unreleased stuff from the Quebec days), you can really hear the unfiltered emotion in his voice, particularly the demo of If You Could Save Yourself. And Deaner has said that he doesn't listen to this album, because of how dark it is, more so thematically than musically. Each Ween album gives a snapshot of what the guys were going through at the time, as opposed to just being a collection of novelty songs about drugs.

Ween – She Fucks Me Lyrics 12 years ago
(continued) I also think the whole Pork Roll Egg and Cheese theme is for comfort. Gener repeats the line in the background with the same tone, as Deaner seems to get more emotional with the progressing vocals. They use the whole PRE&C thing throughout the whole album, I think to ground themselves in reality (after all, they were supposedly high on Scotchguard the whole time [even though they weren't]).

Ween – Pork Roll, Egg and Cheese Lyrics 12 years ago
I think the Pork Roll Egg and Cheese represents home and homeliness, or basic comforts. The whole album has the recurring theme of home, and this is the second last track of The Pod. I just think the Pork Roll Egg and Cheese, which also recurs as a motif throughout the album, is used as comfort device. What made me also think this is the fact that the line's repeated in the background of "She Fucks Me", probably the most emotive song on the album. It's almost as if Gener's singing it to calm down poor Deaner, who gets more emotive as the song progresses.

Ween – She Fucks Me Lyrics 12 years ago
I reckon this is a really heartfelt song for Deaner. This girl fucked him, plain and simple. Sure she fucked him physically and that was all goodat the time, keeping him warm when he was cold and all, but in the end she fucked him over. We don't know how, or why, but the emotion in Deaner's almost-crying vocals shows that whatever happened hurt him bad. Ween have a lot of beautiful songs, but this one is just fuelled by raw emotion and pain. Fuckin' loverley!

Ween – Ocean Man Lyrics 12 years ago
I think this song has something to do with the evolution of life on earth. It seems as if the protagonist is wanting to evolve, and this Ocean Man holds the key. Life originated from the sea, after all, and the singer is asking to be taken to land perhaps for the first time ("take me to the land that you understand"). Ween obviously love to create characters and base their songs around them, and I think their Ocean Man character is some sort of catalyst for evolution. What makes me further think this is the fact he's name's Ocean Man and clearly from the sea, yet he's a "lifeform braised in the sand....soaking up the thirst of the land," leading me to think this dude's more than just a sea-dwelling creature, that this guy is evolution incarnate. He was around way before us humans, and probably takes pity on us and our primitive minds for ever having thought the earth had corners and edges. He also need his help to evolve, thus why we (or the singer) take his hand and follow him.

Ween – Poop Ship Destroyer Lyrics 12 years ago
I think Ween are on a two-man quest to rid the world of musical shit. They're on the Poopship Destroyer afterall, which one can only take to mean they're out to destroy shit. Perfect Ween brownness right here.

Ween – Blue Balloon Lyrics 12 years ago
I think this is Ween's little green moment. Not weed green, enviro green. And not at all done in a wanky pretentious Al Gore sorta way, but with perfect Ween kookiness. I think the blue balloon is the earth what with the references to the polar caps and icicles melting. Using the allusion of the balloon means Ween can once again get into the psyche of the child, and relates adults to being like children, in terms of their naivety. A little kid seeing a blue balloon float by whimsically knows no more about it than us adults know about the big blue balloon we're living on. The sound effects symbolising air escaping from the balloon have a few meanings I reckon. Firstly, it's representing the weirdness and the mystery of the balloon (literally in a child's eyes) through an almost nonsensical sound, though there's no denying what the sound is. Secondly, and probably more importantly, it's symbolic of our earth's resources running out. Balloons get smaller and less impressive as air is let out, and that's what we're doing to our planet.

Ween – Roses Are Free Lyrics 12 years ago
(continued) To me, the 'pumpkin' sort of symbolises knowledge. You can choose what to do with the answers you receive in life, whether you dismiss them (cast them off into the sea), use them to make something out of your life (unless you think that pumpkin holds your destiny), or, and I love that they end with this one, you can choose to share your knowledge and success with others. Despite how deep this song's lyrics can be taken, it's still one of the most fun and lighthearted pieces of music around. And boy, do they fucking rock it live!

Ween – Roses Are Free Lyrics 12 years ago
I agree this song is about skepticism, but more so about free-will and thinking for oneself. All the references to religion in the first verse, then the line "don't believe the florist when he tells you that the roses are free" kind of implies (to me at least), think for yourself and ask questions instead of just accepting other peoples' answers and statements as gospel. The second verse adds onto the concept of free-will and free-thinking. It's saying you can do all these things, but at the end of the day, you have to remember "what you put on the tree" which could mean what you've brought to the plate, what you yourself have contributed. In the end, we have to run our own lives, make our own decisions and believe what we want to believe, instead of just relying on false hopes from all those metaphorical florists out there.

Ween – The Argus Lyrics 12 years ago
LoriMeyers, thank you! You summed up perfectly how I've always felt about this song. People often underestimate just how deep and profound Ween can be in their songs, both with the beautiful timelessness of the lyrics and the perfect music to accompany it. This has long been one of my favourite Ween songs due to how flawless every aspect of it is, and how the lyrics are so timeless and easy to relate to.
