Good post and I don't think you're way off. I see the 1st verse end runing onto the Chorus 1st line - it repeats later. "As they ask her to focus on - Sailors fighting in the dance hall Oh man! Look at those cavemen go It's the freakiest show" The silver screen (and tv) is addictive and a 'shiny' distraction from real life. Also the entertainment value is 'caveman' ...so mediocre and freaky. It's not at all as interesting and deep as "is there life on Mars?" "It's on America's tortured brow That Mickey Mouse has grown up a cow" to my mind the children's entertainer has morphed into a milking cow and it is relentlessly milked, just look at Disney! just my thoughts nothing more. |

hi to all, have to say this is a fooking great song and what i see are anti-religious feelings surfacing and evidence of the dogma involved within the lyrics - to me it speaks of brainwashed christians who are, once taught, never quite able to remove it from their head - hence the title the first two verses are littered with what seems to me to be anti-christian [offended? then forgive me!lol] "You keepin' on a holdin' A-holdin' on a-keepin' No givin' into takin' more But still, still feedin'" ...religions can only exist [feed] with a following flock "You're clearly disturbed, All you want is allegiance" ...the demands religions place on people "You hit 'em with believin' Holy, holy water washin' over the soul" - self evident "Collecting all the people you love to sing you a song even if they stick to humming" ...particularly made me lololol "Leaving with their heart To shape them within" ...giving yourself to a religion [a god] changes you inside "Speaking in tongues we've all been summoned." Glossolalia is defo a religious practice "it's all about OUR love for you." ...the lyrics are pretty damning [pun intended] ...and there's more you don't have to agree, this is my interpretation, free speech an'all =) love from shastra [a spiritual being] |
