Rush – Spindrift Lyrics 14 years ago
Well. You gotta understand the natural phenomena of Spindrift to understand this song and all the other further analysis. I´ll make it easier:

"Spindrift usually refers to spray, particularly to the spray blown from cresting waves during a gale. This spray, which "drifts" in the direction of the gale, is one of the characteristics of a wind speed of 8 Beaufort and higher at sea.

If you drive anything at a Spindrift( a ship or a plane, most likely a ship )..., your view is hardly damaged. It´s difficult to do maneuvres and a lot of accidents have happened because of Spindrift( youtube it ).

So, the natural phenomena affects people´s view. Hmmm.

As usual, Peart´s lyrics may have double meaning. It could be understood in a political and enviromentalist way. When something or somebody does something in the east, it reflects on the west side of the planet. And vice-versa. It could be related to the way we are treating the planet( when we polute the environment, we are poluting not only our country, but the whole planet ). The way politicians and countries "talk that away" with one another, may reflect how disconnected we are from a global point of view of catastrophes and human strives, generically speaking.

And, of course, it could be understood in a personal way: When a person shocks with some other person, it may create a Spindrift, MEANING: The shock between these two may "blind" them and make them speechless ( "Where are the words to answer you?" "Where is the wave that will carry me?" - a clear reference to the phenomena here ).

Rush – Marathon Lyrics 14 years ago
This song analyzes our potential as human beings to desire, create and achieve goals in our "lifetime". The metaphors may be used to reflect our potential as individuals. Neil Peart once explained that this song was inspired by the Chinese proverb "A journey of 1000 miles starts with the first step", that can be associated with "You can do a lot in your lifetime, if you don´t burn out too fast", Peart here is evoking our capacity to understand our pace in Life, be patient and strive for great deeds and to maximize our existence, not with "ambition or greed", but with the joy of achieving our inner dreams. It´s probably the only way to respect our human nature. The main differential with other species is that we have imagination and emotions, why not use this capacities as a trigger for the realization of our mission?

Rush – Mission Lyrics 14 years ago
I think this is one of those songs that you will listen for the rest of your life and every time you hear it, it will sound different. The lyrics are very opened to imagination and anyone can put their thoughts and wonder the symbolism of words like spirit, vision, dream, mission. Those words are open to intepretation and for me, this song talks about the combiantion of emotions and attitude that we must have to achieve an objective, even if for that purpose we will endure a life of privation, weirdness and a sense of not belonging to a general group. To be creative, independent and achieve your ultimate desires you´ll pay a price. It´s not easy either to be different or to be a genious, but you can achieve much more than a regular alienated and boring life...

Frank Zappa – Jewish Princess Lyrics 14 years ago
Well, this song can´t be analyzed only thinking in the lyrics.

Since this is an album that criticizes society using music and sounds, as well as sound effects, this song is absolutely unique.

I like what Zappa tried to do combining certain words with subsequent sounds or voices.

NASTY, Hairy - La La La
Horny - Iowwwww

Steamy - ( train sound )

He imitates a monkey as well, because that´s what he was trying to say. Men are looking for formated Barbies, archetypes, simetric and perfect girlfriends, with no regards to the fact that she´s going to smell like garlic, be poor or sound like a monkey when speaking.

Isn´t that men started to accept and embrace... Dating a "Perfect little Jewish Princess", which also became is the model for a perfect girlfriend and a great fetiche overall( type Jewish next door on any porn website and the results will be Titanic )

This song is actually talking about something more present in nowadays societies, dumb stupid people giving all at the gym and watching soap operas, eating crap and demanding more guns, less immigration and more oil..., and demanding programed dolls to fuck.
