To me this song is about a man (an only son) who is in love with a woman but she doesn't love him back or that they broke up over her.Then the part about the "Come out the woodwork" is maybe friends or family coming to comfort him or a more evil interpretation is the woman's friends are going to torture him and remind him how he could never have her.And all the time he spends fretting over her is causing him to become depressed the "heavy hands." He then goes to confession regarding the "good book" or maybe just goes to church,and all of his schedule is emptied just to go to church hoping faith will help him through.And the ending may either symbolize baptism or the man drowning himself finally after realizing the woman is all he wants but can never have or get.This is how I view this song. |

Does this song have anything to do with an old west bounty hunter I forgot his name but I know he was a black guy and he was after an escapee (outlaw) who has notches on his gun belt and one day the hunter went into town and his friend saw the guy going into a store,but the outlaw ran out and tried to kill the hunter and the hunter chased him down and lept off his horse and pulled a winchester rifle (a big iron?) and shot the outlaw,and as he approached the outlaw he leaned down and the outlaw gave him his guns and belt.This song sort of reminded me of this story and I'm wondering if the song is related to this event. |

Is it possible that this is and Clothed And Opened Eyed are song partners? Cause it sounds like this is the want for a relationship and infatuation and COE is about realizing that the relationship or infatuation was a bad choice cause you see how bad the person truely is. |

In my opinion maybe it's about a person (guy) being haunted by his inner most fears,the evil spirit.His mind tricks him into seeing this fear everywhere and he slowly degrades because his mind is accepting it as reality.(They reference Buddha Boy) maybe saying how this person is attempting to come to terms and overcome his fear or is so overtaken by it that he's starving himself metaphorically or literally,and the "All the men of faith and men of science had their questions
Could it ever be on earth as it is in heaven?" part could be him going and questioning people of religion and intellect on how to deal with his situation and eventually overcome this.That is how I view this song. |
