Trippy stuff for sure. I think the song could almost be looked at as two sided. In one light it does really seem to be a reflection of life and all that comes with it. However, one could also look at this song as a reflection to Gilmour coming into Pink Floyd. The song & album were wrote and recorded in between Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here & The Wall, which was a time of real stress within the band. Gilmour could have been reflecting on how his entry into the band, while done with the best intentions at the start, might have broken down into something less then great for him. Great song.
