I don't think whoever transcribed these lyrics was saying that the entire song was pretend German, but that before particular stanzas, Tom would make up German-sounding phrases, which he'd then follow with the "Don't be late" or "Be punctual" lines |

I live in New Hope, the same town that Dean and Gene grew up in. They're probably referencing working at the gas station (what is now a Lukoil) and how much the service industry blows, especially how customers don't seem to appreciate the work the employees do for them. Also, New Hope is renowned for its Gay community (the gas station is right next to a Gay Bar), which might be the "faggots" who're getting their gas from Dean. |
