| Alice in Chains – The One You Know Lyrics | 4 years ago |
| I feel this is about AIC after Layne and the fact that so many so called fans state things like "no Layne, no Chains" etc. As good as Layne was, Alice in Chains are still a force and Jerry has written so many great songs in the 2 solo and AIC albums post 3 legged dog. It must disappoint Jerry to have that kind of reaction when they waited over 10 years to put out an album without Layne and have always been respectful toward Layne even though it must have been so hard to deal with his drug fueled actions. I wonder if \'Black water flows" is a reference to Will as the vocalist after Layne. | |

| @[dyomaeth:39776] I agree with most of what you wrote and also feel that Jerry has been very personal with the lyrics on RF\r\nI really think this is a killer album and I pick up all sorts of references to their history and journey prior to this album.\r\nNot the one you know seems a reference to how fans have dismissed anything AIC have done post Layne and reading the youtube comments really gets my blood boiling sometimes so it must get to Jerry at times as well. | |

This sounds a lot like it is directed at Courtney Love. the lyrics seem to fit. Could you free what's keepin' you? I think this and most of the song refers Courtney's controlling of Nirvana's affairs mainly for her personal gain, ignoring the fact that it was Dave and Krist's band. The song also seems to suggest that Dave has some serious knowledge that he is keeping to himself due to his loyalty, integrity or what ever that could be her undoing. "I could sing for sorrow" |

| Nickelback – Curb Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| While I think Chad Kroeger is an excellent song writer and lyricist, this song stands out for me more so than his later stuff because I think it had a certain musical integrity about it that some of the more commercial ones lack. Even in some of Nickleback's commercial songs Chad can lyrically paint an amazingly vivid picture that provokes real emotion in the listener, except maybe, "I like your pants around your feet". (although how someone can have a commercial hit with those lyrics is beyond me). Chad for some reason has copped a lot of crap and is considered among most "serious musos" as light weight and disposable, (not what I think and I am a muso), I think this song proves he definitely has the goods, (that and the millions of albums he has sold.) | |

Oh, I'm amounted, All Dave's experience from Nirvana and his musical experience have amounted to where he is at in the the Foo Fighters. |

I know that there was a lot of incorrect speculation that every song Dave wrote was about Nirvana or Kurt's death, but I am wondering if this song is about the transition from Nirvana to the Foos. Take your payroll and lottery, could refer to the fact that Dave worked hard for his money from Nirvana, but it was also a matter of luck that he was in a successful band like Nirvana, the robbery was Kurt's death and so he takes the money from Nirvana and Starts the Foos, but doesn't want to ride on the back of Nirvana's success, I swear I'll never tell. Head on with my hate, Dave hated all the constant referrals to Nirvana and the accusations that he had no right to be writing and playing after Kurt's Death, into the lights ahead, stage lights. I amazed that I'm still standing and demand we all blend in. Dave is amazed he has a chance to continue doing what he loves and wants the Foo fighters to be recognized as a Band. This is a killer song even. if I got it wrong |
