| Dio – The Last In Line Lyrics | 6 years ago |
| The video really illuminates the lyrics. To me this song is talking about the search for truth and our journey of illumination and the challenges we face on this journey...the worldly traps we can fall into and never escape from if we're not careful (in the video the mind controlled zombies...the ultimate trap). Dio saves the kid and he escapes (ie if you listen to the words they can save you). | |

| I'm with absoftitanium. These words although surely partially describe some of the horrors of the time, seem prophetic. "10 thousand miles in the mouth of a graveyard". That's an awful big graveyard. | |

| Here's my $.02 and an interpretation I haven't heard: It seems the character "ME at your shoulder" being referred to is God. Hence the "thunder and lightning". I think the song is basically about the irony of God's game of life...and how HE goes along with whatever happens in this crazy world and all the stupid things humans do like waste their lives w/drinking and drugs..."lets bungle...that's alright by me". And HE is also unpredictable..."I'm a tiger when I want love but I'm a snake if we disagree". HE created the "lions and tigers". And "writes on your tombstone, I thank you for dinner". | |

Piper: one who plays the bagpipes....a musician Piper: 20th century artist who mainly depicted war scenes. Could mean either...I seriously doubt it means a pipe smoker. |

| First of all Syd was more than a guitarist...he was the main songwriter. Secondly, he had a mental disorder that the drugs probably exacerbated. Thirdly, the song was written long before Syd died. Why don't you check your facts before posting misinformation like this? | |
| Pink Floyd – Welcome to the Machine Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Not knowing the history or much about Pink Floyd, the first time I heard this song I thought it was about a kid (like me) who wanted to be a famous wealthy rock star and instead is having his orientation for a job in a factory/machine shop. | |

|
The first verse is what wisdom says about life and accepting it leads to peace The second verse (except the last line) is how society says you should live and accepting it leads to insanity and a wasted life Breathe, breathe in the air: Pay attention to the breath it is the essence of life don't be afraid to care: Who gives a shit what society thinks leave but don't leave me: Forget the bullshit; Remember wisdom look around, choose your own ground: Pay attention, check your options then make your own decisions for long you live and high you fly: Be patient, you've got time and life can be awesome and smiles you'll give and tears you'll cry: Emotions are part of life and you're human like everyone and all your touch and all you see is all your life will ever be: The five senses are what make life experiences Run rabbit run: Keep yourself busy/distracted/occupied so you can forget about life dig that hole, forget the sun: Work is most important and when at last the work is done don't sit down, it's time to dig another one: Don't take time to think or just be, keep working. for long you live and high you fly but only if you ride the tide: you need to live up to society's expectations and balanced on the biggest wave you race towards an early grave: you're spirit will die very early in life if you live like this. |
