This song is definitely not about love. It is not an extended metaphor; actually, the meaning is pretty straightforward, but it's hard to pick up on the meaning without noting the title of the song and some pretty cogent analogies in it. "Have you ever noticed that I'm not acting as I used to do before?" Well, if you've ever tried ecstasy, you know mdma turns your personality upside down and ultimately removes hostility, jealousy, anxiety, suspicion, and mistrust -- and, not in a benign sort of way, but, pretty dramatically. It does change the way you act toward others, from a mile away. "Have you ever wondered why I always keep on coming back for more?" To be honest, this line really doesn't apply to ecstasy because it's not an addictive drug by nature, as judged by the literature or by my personal experience. "What have you done to me?" This line is a dead giveaway, coupled with the next one. "I'll never be the same I'll tell you for sure!!" Mdma can be a roller-coaster ride of emotions and it definitely has a tendency to make first time users reach a state that they feel like there's no turning back from their enhanced appreciation/outlook on what life is about (this is before the comedown, naturally). That shift in mentality is profound, and it's perfectly described by the singer exclaiming that she'll never be the same. |

Are you guys serious? The meaning of this song is pretty obvious. "At a time, in situations When you want a thing more than you should." This "thing" is to take it to a romantic level with someone whom you have feelings for. "You would fall, you would crumble By picking up the pieces from the storm." You would be devastated by the response you got. "That was when you said 'You least expect it.' That was when you asked how did we get this far? So far. That was when I wanted to correct it, But I guess there's nothing wrong with being wrong. At all." That was when the other person rebuffed the singer as if to say, how did we get this far as though you have feelings and I really don't have feelings. That's when the singer wants to correct her misapprehension -- her mistake -- about the intentions of the guy that she viewed in a totally different light. But of course, the singer is saying there's nothing "wrong with being wrong" -- at all, meaning it's okay to take a chance and be wrong about someone; there's nothing wrong about being wrong. The guy didn't expect her to confess her feelings for him; alas, "that was when you said you least expect it." "And now is when I guess I'll least expect it. But I will never ask how did we get this far . My god. Even if I doubt for just a second I can still find the right in being wrong. So wrong." The singer wouldn't question the circumstances that led to the situation, even if doubt creeps in for a second, she can still justify her feelings and choices. Ultimately, the guy was either totally caught off guard by her confronting him about a possible romance, or the guy kind of cut things off when they were proceeding too fast for his liking. That is my interpretation of it. |
