I see a lot of comments that it is about losing a loved one. To me the lyrics is about someone that died and is waiting for their loved one. "It's so quiet I can hear my thoughts touching every second that I spent waiting for you." "Please don't ask me why I'm here. Something deeper brought me than a need to remember." "My restless soul is longing. No pain remains, no feeling. Eternity awaits." These lines make me think it is the "storyteller" that died and is now waiting. |

| This song shows the great strenght of Skinny Puppy's music. When listening to this song, it always pumps up the adrenaline. Few songs give me such emotional response. There are no real lyrics, but you can feel the rage, it is pure and explosive. It makes Flashbacks by Ministry sound like a lullaby. | |

It is an awesome song. Best part of Ohgr's lyrics is that it seems to mean different things to different people. A lot of the older stuff is written while under the influence of heavy drugs and looks more like fragments of thoughts, never really expressed fully. To me Tormentor is about insanity itself. "pouring thoughts electric fingers blinding pressure sockets stream matter grey the nerve free fall safely buried out behind a face" It kind of hints that behind the "normal" surface there are raging thoughts and urges, maybe the thoughts of a murderer. The different parts of the lyrics seem to portrait a different madness though. |
