I'm guessing the best interpretation of these lyrics is:
He saw a naked lady who had no clothes on who was lying on the corridor floor. He got a good look through the crack and noticed she had footmarks up her back. The lady then saw him looking through the crack and that's when he spotted a rope and a pair of boots which he didn't much like the look of. He asked himself, "Why she want to pick on me? And those footmarks, How did they get there? What is that rope which I see for"? And he didn't wanna be crude, however, she was nude! |

Anyone else notice that on the countdown parts that the echoes on the numbers 10 through 7 have multiple echoes but the number 6 has two echoes? Making "6 6 6". Coincidence or some subtle "evil" subliminal message? |

| Peter Gabriel – This Is the Picture (Excellent Birds) Lyrics

A good example of how lyrics can be interpreted based on one's personal experiences. When I was much younger, and even more stupid, I had been listening to the "So" album a lot. I had a terrifying drug experience while in the woods outside my school. I could see the soccer fields from where I was laying (I was immobile) There were seagulls walking around and it was raining and this song kept playing in my head over and over again. I was positive that the seagulls were the excellent birds. Now whenever I hear it, I am so thankful that I survived my stupid years! |

Could be. Many good song's lyrics can be interpreted in different ways. Peoples life experiences could influence their own interpretation of lyrics. But I think your's might be kind of a stretch! |

On the single version it is kissing baboons both times. The single version is the one usually played on the radio and is on the "Shaking the Tree" album. The album version also has the drum machine/counting intro. |

I always wondered if there was supposed to be any double meaning in the line "Intruder come and leave his mark". |

| Jandek – You Painted Your Teeth Lyrics

This song is most likely about or inspired by the Radium Girls,(look on Wikipedia). In the early 20th century, girls that worked in a factory that made glow in the dark watch faces would paint their teeth with the glow in the dark paint (believing it was safe) to play tricks on friends and loved ones. The paint was radioactive and they died from the exposure. |

One day my band were playing this at a bar and we were jamming out and kept repeating the "I know a girl who's got a lust for danger" part over and over and everybody started yelling along with it! We repeated it for over 45 minutes! Now that was awesome! |

Press Darlings is one of my favorite songs. I love how heavy it sounds. Nick Kent and (Garry) Bushell were "Rock journalists". |
