I'm a french people, and my english is far from perfect, bu i love to read and/or translate what i'm listening to. WWPJ is one of my favorite band ever. I really love the first album. i'm listening this while i'm writing for the first time since a long time. and the first verse, it feels like this to me : it makes me think about the wedding two people, in their 50 or 60 waking up in the night, facing the loved one (ot so-called loved-one) because of a noise or something then they turned on the light. there is a sound in the attic, but this fact is secondary, the first thing that camr to my mind is : they wke up, and they see each other, the first sight of the "day". and they didnt like what they see, like 'this is the person i share my bed with since xx Years, and... i dont like it anymore, so i tunr my back, to go back to my dreams, or my thoughts, whatever. and the sound in the attic, when he says "i wont go there", it makes me think about a "coward"... --> my wife knows that i wont go there, she knows im afraid about facing things, be stron, and yes, there is that sound, i wont go see whats happening... and this is probably the reason she tunrs her back when we face each other when we're in the bed... sorry about the confused point of view... it makes me think about a domestic confusion "rhis is my house, this is my home" = this is my life, this is how it happens inside my walls, where nobody (friends, coworkers...) can see/know whats going on in my life. its about a relationship who is dead for a long time. looking at the other guy/girl and knowing that he/she knows that this is finish (that this is over? i dont know how to say this in english...) well... im probably teribly wrong about the song but i love that band, really i mean it i listened to it during a tough and sad year. anyway, if anybosy wanna speak about the band or anything, feel free to send me a mail at mistaken.for.val.jester@gmail.com |

i had a hard time loving this album... when i went to canada, a friends gave me "apologies..." and i was so in love with it... one of my top ten album ever... i like some of the expo86 tracks, and excepet call it a ritual, i dont like the mount zoomer album... tonight i'm drink, and i kinda like it... and i was asking myself if that song is any related with the same titled 80's band? so... yeah, hail to you, dear people loving the parade... greetings from france. |

| This is one of the songs from this band (and this band is just... my band... i listen to them every day... its ridiculous how religiously i put the vinyle on the turntable every day... because they mean so much to me...) that i like the least. i dont know why. the lyrics, i can feel them. but in a kind of way i think this song is weird. but it's also the conclusion to the name of their last album "high violet". the violet cities means the modern world for me. the suburbs, the people getting on and off their house to the work. i dont know the meaning of the song but i see the morning and the young day rising shy in the sky. i like the song but far less than others (my favorite EVER could be Slow Show, story of my life...) but i feel quiet when i listen to walk off. maybe one day that song will be my favorite. sorry for my english. i am french, and i am drunk. i was listening for the twelve time that song tonight. it was a really bad and sad night and that song fells good right now. | |

hello, your translation is very good. yes "sang d'encre" is a french term to show how we can worry about somebody. when blood turns to dark beacause of lot of care and orrying. i just wanted to tell you or give more accuracy about some words. And it is : Somebody probably wanted to do yourself harm. It says that he thinks that when is necklace broke, it's the sign than somebody was mean with the "you" of the song. I'm French and discovered Leloup when I was traveling in the Québec. It's one of the best lyricist I know. He's not famous at all in France and I look like a retard when i play his songs in party or anywhere, people dont get it. it's too bad. this man is some serious shit. |

It was a band that my father used to listen in the 80's. when i was 16/17 i began to steal his discs to listening to new things less lame than the radio and i found them. i remember my little sister wearing this shirt of a essence's show, using it like a pyjamas. My father has the 7" of this song and the album in cd. that was the discs i listened the most for some months. I think they really was stay behind the shadow of the cure, the parallel is easy to make. the people i try to "convert" to this song seems to think its a lame rip off the cure. but i love their simplicity. i feel good when i listen to them. |

i create an account just for that comment. i'm a huge french fan of this website (i pass on it everyday since 3 years) and also a huge french fan of local natives. that song is stayed tuned 34 times in one time. i was writing a letter to an old lover of me. telling stuff. talking about everything. memories, the good and the bad. the pain and the joy we send to each others. she was from canada and we meet on the internet (i beginned the letter while cubism dreams played ;) ) all we want is someone to feel good with. even if the world disappear. someone to be with. this song is truely about love. and even in the case i is "just" about love, this is love too. we're moving and meeting each other, we are a part of the same big thing, so we have to come closer. thats my vision of this song. if i'm totally wrong i sincerely dont care. because that song brought me a nice and confortable feeling of peace and serenity. thank you local natives. that band makes me discover so many things, when i stayed here listening to them in my room. they mean so much to me since i discovered them after a show last autumn. i'm happy to see such nice and cute and sometimes realy deep comment and feelings about the song under the lyrics. i wish you the best, local native fans (or anyone you are reading at this). |
