Have you thought that it was her inspiration? Just because this is what the song is based off of, does not mean others have to have a critic say something rude about them, they relate to it and make it their own. And I'm not quite sure how Taylor's song is leading to kids driving SUV's and having phones by age eight. Or how this is ruining a generation? Okay, and the songs about sex, drugs, and violence are doing so much more for it? Like you said, this is an empowerment song, and if loving yourself and not listening to what the rude people have to say is bad, than maybe we are getting flushed down the toilet. |

My take on it is that let's say a boy who is gay is bullied everyday for it, sooner or later he will look at it and be like, well why should I care what they think? They're just mean, and pathetic for making fun of me for being different. I don't think he's really going to be oh so happy that they bullied him and say how nice they are, And of course we all get a little rude sometimes, but how is she supposed to admit it? make a song saying, yes I do get mean sometimes, I do say some rude things, but hey I'm human. I'm sure anyone is like this, and she just isn't as open about that side because she understands and respects the fact she has very young fans. |

This song has an obvious meaning..sex. S&M is sadomasochism....interaction, especially sexual activity, in which one person enjoys inflicting physical or mental suffering on another person, who derives pleasure from experiencing pain.& gratification, especially sexual, gained through inflicting or receiving pain; sadism and masochism combined. So yes, obviously about sex, but not just any sex. Rough sex. and then, if you watch the video you will see things like "daddy troubles, bad boys, princess of the Illuminati"..and many more. Again, obviously she is not seriously involved with that stuff, but it is what the press if saying about her. She shows it in a creative way..her dress is made of newspaper, and you see as the press write these things about her. |

I think this song is great, and definitely a good song to just let loose to. To me the meaning is probably about a girl who obviously wants to "mess around", she's always met the good image, and had that goodie two shoes act...now she doesn't want to have that anymore. But, even though she's wanting to just break free and do her own thing, her boyfriend, or maybe just a clingy guy she's having a fling with isn't too thrilled about it. "You say that I'm messing with your head All cause I was making out with your friend Love hurts whether it's right or wrong I can't stop cause I'm having too much fun" ^He's frustrated with everything she's doing..as in not being loyal. But all she can say is she can't help it, it's too much&no matter what love's gonna hurt. "You're on your knees, Begging please stay with me, But honestly I just need to be a little crazy" ^He wants her to stay with him, but she can't. As she said before she's having too much fun.&needs to have this fun. "All my life I've been good but now, I'm thinking "What the hell?" All I want is to mess around And I don't really care about If you're loving me, If you're hating me You can't save me baby, baby All my life I've been good but now Woah, What the hell What? What? What? what the hell?" ^She hasn't ever done to boys what she's doing to him. (cheating, fooling around with other guys, and just not caring.)
