| The Birthday Massacre – Secret Lyrics | 15 years ago |

A wonderful song that contains great meaning, definitely my favourite song out of the whole "Pins And Needles" album. I feel the lyrics tell a story of two lovers parting their ways now they've lost everything that they once had together. Their relationship is falling apart and one seems to be in a long denial about it at first. It sounds as if she was quiet about her own views, keeping her true feelings in 'secret'. While the other pushed them away and kept personal issues out of mind. The "I could never speak anyway. What you wanted to hear, I couldn't convey..." is where you get the main idea to this. "I started writing the ending I said too much" - she knew from the very beginning that it wasn't going to workout, but she didn't pressure her partner on the doubts. "We were just sinking too fast to save" - not even trying to fix these problems will be able to make their relationship work. "All the days that I've counted You'll never know" - as if she has been waiting for the moment where everything they had finally breaks and how long they'll last in the increasing decay. But she still hides her feelings. "Let's burn the path that was chosen Without a trace" - suggesting they planned a life together, but now it isn't going anywhere. It's broken. When you're in a situation like this, it can be distressing and heart-rending. I can really relate to its saying. |
