Tool – Eulogy Lyrics 11 years ago
If you have an anti-Christian bias, then this song will be about Jesus to you. However, "get off your fuckin cross" refers to anyone who is playing the part of the martyr for the attention, of which there have been hundreds since Christ. Also, Christ was not surprised to hear his own eulogy, he prophesied it and talked about it frequently, and even stated it was his purpose to die. So, I don't think it's about Jesus. One thing I love about Tool is their songs make people think.. well some of them anyways... if all you can do is bash Christians that doesn't take a lot of brainpower, just repeat what you hear in the media. However, for those of us who have a truly open mind rather than an empty mind filled with nonsense... just hit play.

While this song has obvious analogies about Jesus, some of them are as obviously not about Him. Jesus was a martyr who saw divinity. He wasn't surprised at his death, in fact he predicted it, and so on. I think it's more likely that this song is about religious hypocrites who don't practice what they have preached. Also it's about so-called religious martyrs who really don't believe what they are saying. I believe that people who label Christians as people who believe in a man in the clouds have no idea what they are really saying. Christ is not in the clouds, he's not in the sky, he's not in China. Christians believe he is in the eternity of Heaven sitting at the right hand of God. What brought me to Christianity is the belief that Christ will return someday to fix things right, as Tool uses Mother Nature to do in the song AEnema. I don't claim to offer any proof or hard evidence other than what I've experienced in life. If someone judges Christianity by what they see on TV and read in the news then it's no wonder they're totally misinformed. Satan wants the world to only know these things about Christianity because then it's easy to lead people astray from it. I challenge people to really read the Gospels and make up your own minds. No, don't go read those Old Testaments laws that say you have to stone someone who cheats on their spouse. Jesus came to fulfill the law and perfect it. Those no longer apply. The new covenant of forgiveness for those who truly repent in the law now.
