@[didier12:21868] I'd think that, did the song not possess multiple allusions to intravenous drug use. So it's more than likely in reference to heroin, cocaine, ketamine, ect. But that's just me. |

The first line is a paraphrased quote from 'Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans', where Nick Cage's partners kill a drug dealer, but his soul continues dancing.

Maybe it's just me, and I'm way off base somehow, but this song seems to be nothing more than a critique on modern day culture, with peoples faces buried in their phones. It analyzes how the end of days might be handled, were it to come now. |

The high-pitched bit is pretty much just repeating the previous robotic voice at the beginning.
"To live in true freedom is to release all inhibitions. The fears of mortality must be forgotten; No longer living for death, no longer dying to live. Existence and non-existence coagulate" |

Yes, this song is directly influenced by the movie 'Papillon' (Butterfly in French), starring Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman. In turn, 'Papillon' is the autobiography of Henri Charriere, one of the only people to successfully escape from Devil's Island.
Not that I expect many people to care, just some insight into the source material by just another film student :) |

Sean named this song after their friend David J, and although it doesn't pertain to David J at all, Sean says that he named it after him because "I stole the melody from his song 'Love is a Sin' ". The song itself is about Sean's insecurities.

| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Sir Psycho Sexy Lyrics

I know there might not be much depth to this song, so that's probably why it's strange that I was able to take something away from it.
"Lay me down... Descending waves of graceful pleasure, for your love there is no measure. Her curves they bend with subtle splendor."
That and the last two lines "Ooo and it's nice out here. I think I'll stay for a while" makes me kind of picture the narrator in question "Sir Psycho" finally stopping his sexual escapades for just one person he finds that makes him not need sexual encounters so badly. I know, it sounds like I'm just completely making this up as I go, but I really love this song. I've been a sex addict for about 4 years now, so the fact that I was able to take something away from this song makes it really speak to me on a personal level. |

I feel like the bit about "I don't believe there's a reason" means that he doesn't believe that there's a reason why people should alienate the narrator the way they did. I mean, thinking back to the Columbine shootings, what was the reason for the boys to be picks on? They were different. There's no reason to pick on those kids, and when you push someone that far, they will eventually snap. |

Yes, they definitely say "Hate". I think it's a play on words, personally. Since "Hasst" translates to "Hate", and "Hast" translates to "Have", it's of my belief that Rammstein purposely made the song as such in order to illustrate the ambiguity in marriage. Just my thoughts. |

Deathcore fans will be butt hurt. Death Metal songs don't have 20 breakdowns per, and are much faster in the guitar and drum area. Bree bree isn't sticking around, either. Pig squeals just don't work with new JfaC, and that's fine with me. |

| Protest the Hero – Sex Tapes Lyrics
|
|
The first line "Here's lookin' at you kid" is Humphrey Bogart's famous improvised line in the film Casablanca. The song itself is about the media pouncing on celebrity sex tapes, like Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian. The media will blow these tapes out of proportion quickly, causing the stars of said tape to experience a celebrity status at the cost of their privacy. Journalists and editors of major networks are scrambling to get more information about these celebs, which will in turn make their wallets fatter, hence "All the editors are hard, all the journalists are wet". The Jonas brothers are also mentioned, as their purity rings, prohibiting sex before marriage, are essentially wrapped around the dicks of thousands of their fans. "The whole waits with patience for one them boys to slip" refers to celebrities saying unflattering things, and the media publishing their mistakes to the world, as it waits patiently for such a slip of the tongue. All in all, Sex Tapes denounces the common practice of celebrity exploitation for the entertainment of the masses, which is embedded in our society. |

| Megadeth – Skin O' My Teeth Lyrics

MTV flipped when they saw the lyrics to 'Skin O'My Teeth' because they thought I was promoting committing suicide. It has taken us a long enough time to get our relationship politically correct with MTV. So I don't want to go out and film a video about a song that they are going to look at and say, 'You're nuts.' and if they say, 'Hey Dave, we're going to play your song, as radical as it is, but you have to go on there and say the song is not about suicide,' I'll say it. 'Hey, this song is not about suicide'.
–Dave Mustaine, 1992
That's about people who want to end it and just can't get it together. You know, they cut their wrist; it's just not deep enough. Or they decide to get hit by a car and it just breaks their leg or something.

| Blink-182 – Time to Break Up Lyrics
|
It's such a rare song in that it shows a breakup from a guy's perspective, which isn't common play for most songs. Having been in such situations before, it's easy to relate to, and it's all quite understandable.
I thought I needed a break
the truth is I'm such a dick
it's broke and can't be fixed
Judging by the overall tone of the lyrics, the girl has the guy convinced that he's a complete asshole, and the real antagonist/catalyst for their break up. It's painful for him to think of such a relationship with a girl that he loves, mainly because of all the pain he was subjected to both throughout the relationship and afterward. But he still wants her more than anything else, and he can't just let that go. |

| Nirvana – In Bloom Lyrics

Just like to toss this into the pot: The line "Weather changes moods" is a reference to a "fair weather fan", which means when Nirvana (or any band for that matter) became big, they began to bring in many new "fans". These fans weren't what Nirvana wanted, because they weren't true fans of the music, but only listened because it was popular. That seems to be what this song is entirely about. |

| Protest the Hero – Blindfolds Aside Lyrics

Absolutely amazing song.
I think the "Sin I didn't care for" is quite obviously Kezia admitting her distaste for her work as a prostitute, but still reaping the benefits of such sin.
"And no one ever said I'd have to pull the trigger on her": The person in charge of executing Kezia is beginning to feel remorse for her, and has developed sympathy to her situation, causing his task to become steadily more difficult.
"Pull the screaming trigger and watch your carcass bleed me dry": As was stated before, the people shouting in the background "SHOOT HER", yet the guard is unable to do so. He knows he will feel the rush of overwhelming guilt if he does what he is being told to. The "bleeding dry" is symbolic of his shame and guilt for being in such a scenario.
"I watch a woman that I know My hope and my own future blindfolded": The narrator is hinting that he either understands Kezia's situation quite well and will feel horrible guilt for executing her, or alternatively, they had once been together, and he still has lingering feelings for her.
That's what I took from the song. I'm probably miles off, but tell me what you think. |

In 2004, lead singer Anthony Kiedis released his autobiography, which was titled Scar Tissue. In the book, he explained some of the lyrics: "Sarcastic Mr. Know-it-all" is Dave Navarro, whom Anthony refers to as "the King of sarcasm." "With the birds I'll share this lonely view" was inspired by birds that Anthony saw while he was singing outside of Flea's house, and he also says that the line has to do with how he felt like an outsider, looking in |

| Cannibal Corpse – Addicted To Vaginal Skin Lyrics

I think George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher, their lead vocalist, gives a valid defense to their lyrical content.
"We don't sing about politics. We don't sing about religion...All our songs are short stories that, if anyone would so choose they could convert it into a horror movie. Really, that's all it is. We like gruesome, scary movies, and we want the lyrics to be like that. Yeah, it's about killing people, but it's not promoting it at all. Basically these are fictional stories, and that's it. And anyone who gets upset about it is ridiculous." |
