There is no way in the world that this song is about Elliott Smith. You are absolutely fucking insane for believing that. Are you completely stupid? |
Elliott Smith – Waltz #2 Lyrics | 13 years ago |
How was his talent wasted? You're a fucking moron. His talent was made much stronger due to what he went through. Don't ever fucking say anything about Elliott was wasted, he gave us what he could, and then some. |
Nirvana – Swap Meet Lyrics | 13 years ago |
You're all wrong. You'll clearly never understand Kurt if you're all thinking so small. Try taking his words in a more metaphorical sense, not literal. |
Nirvana – The Other Improv Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Nirvana-5 has it right, the rest of you are colossal morons. "My milk is your shit" is another way of saying "One person's junk is another person's treasure". The things that meant most to Kurt meant less than shit to others, and that is something I can heavily relate to, just as I do on almost every front Kurt has represented. Those of you once again considering this to be another song about drugs, you are small minded and severely foolish, WAKE UP, Kurt was much wiser then that, he wasn't just always singing about drugs, you demean his legacy just by believing that. You fake fans disgust me. |
Nirvana – Sifting Lyrics | 13 years ago |
You are all gravely mistaken in your interpretations. These lyrics are extremely false, you obviously just went by ear. To the piece of swine that referred to the lyrics of School as "dumb", just because you do not understand them at all, does not make them "dumb". It's so damn sad that there are hardly any real Nirvana fans in existence, most of you just think Kurt's songs were about drugs, but he saw a much bigger picture. This song is about life itself, the state of the world. Here, I'll give you an interpretation for the first line, use the same tactic to determine the rest, you'll come to more logical conclusions then your small minds usually allow. "Afraid to grade Wouldn't it be fun?" Turn that around, and it makes more sense to fools, as in, something like this, "Wouldn't it be fun if you were afraid to grade?", basically means, wouldn't the world be a better place if everybody wasn't so instinctively judgmental. But I doubt you understand, and if so, then you will NEVER understand Kurt. |
Nirvana – Big Long Now Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Those lyrics are incorrect. "In this climb, I am blind Why can't I hear? Colour blind Speaking a phrase Instantly grown I am blind Waiting in line Why am I shown?" This song is about life itself, life is the climb, we're all blind, at least to start off with. You can probably figure out the rest of the lyrics if you have 2 brain cells and actually thought about it. Wow, you small minded fools, what a surprise, most of you have labeled this as another song about drug addiction, but Kurt was more in depth then that, and that's what you all seem to be blind to. It's quite demeaning towards him to believe almost all his songs are to do with drugs, you aren't real fans, you're just a pathetic attempt at them. Try using your brains. He was talking about all you sheep, "waiting in line", but then wonders why he is shown, shown more then most of you will ever know, Kurt was just curious as to why such a responsibility was given to him, he was given more answers then some of us receive, but he didn't want them. |
Elliott Smith – Twilight (Somebody's Baby) Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Who the fuck said to you that all of his songs are "supposedly about his drug addiction"? Whoever they are, they sound like a completely ignorant, worthless pile of dog shit. YOU THINK EVERY SINGLE ONE OF HIS AMAZING SONGS IS JUST ABOUT HIS DRUG ADDICTION?!?!?! THAT MAKES ME WANT TO BLOW MY BRAINS OUT JUST SO I'M NOT ON A PLANET WITH SOMEBODY AS UTTERLY FUCKING STUPID AS YOU! Elliott was quite intelligent, he definitely did not ONLY sing about his drug addiction, VERY rarely, actually. |
Elliott Smith – Twilight (Somebody's Baby) Lyrics | 13 years ago |
CONGRATULATIONS, you got one thing right in that whole comment, that this song is one of the saddest. But what's even sadder is that you and so many others think close to every song by Elliott is about drugs or his addiction, if you truly think that, you can't have much fucking respect for his intelligence, you don't think he was more philosophically insightful then that? He was quite proficient in metaphors, and quite wise, don't underestimate him by thinking he's singing about something as small and trivial as drugs. Open your mind up a bit. And who's to say all of his songs are personally about him, any number of them could be written as the perspective of somebody else. This song is about many things, drugs is not one of them. |
Elliott Smith – Twilight (Somebody's Baby) Lyrics | 13 years ago |
You're a colossal moron, this song is not about drugs, you clearly know nothing about Elliott. Go hang yourself. |
Elliott Smith – Twilight (Somebody's Baby) Lyrics | 13 years ago |
You are an incredibly sad excuse for a waste of space. You are so excruciatingly naive. He doesn't just sing about drugs, fuckhead, get your head out of your ass. |
Elliott Smith – Twilight (Somebody's Baby) Lyrics | 13 years ago |
You just used this as an excuse to rant on about some shitty boyfriend you had, well, boo hoo, now piss off. I'm so sick of this, all of you people, go to the other songs of Elliott on this site, have a look at majority of the comments, 99% of people that have commented on Elliott's songs seem to think that ALL he EVER sings about is drugs and his addiction, YOU'RE FUCKING MORONS and I feel such pity on you, you clearly have no respect whatsoever for Elliott, and you have no idea the type of person he was, it disgusts me that you are even capable of hearing his music, you don't deserve it. Claiming even the most personal of his songs is about just drugs. Fuck, I do drugs too, copious amounts, for years, and I've written many songs, hundreds, but I can honestly say only about 4 or maybe 5 are just about drugs or their effects. You really think Elliott was sitting there shooting up, thinking of songs to write about shooting up? HE DIDN'T "LIKE" THAT HE WAS ADDICTED, he didn't advertise it all over the place, he wouldn't fucking sing about it in EVERY SINGLE ONE OF HIS SONGS. |
Elliott Smith – A Passing Feeling Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I too am a user, but I have more respect for Elliott than to demean him by believing this song is about just primarily one specific subject, he went deeper then that, he saw a bigger picture, I don't think people like you really understand him at all. So many of you seem to think this song and so many of his others are only about or mainly about drugs or his own addiction, that makes me feel so sorry for you all, you truly have no way of hearing Elliott like I do. How about this? - The built city - His life(a friendship, a relationship) Blowing it all to hell - Making a monumental mistake that cost him the life he was building, destroying it all with one unintentional reflex. I relate to this line quite heavily, as I too have caused much destruction in my own city, whether it's losing jobs, losings friends, losing loved ones, or losing yourself, I think that's the level Elliott was speaking to us on, and he takes all the blame for his mistakes, this is a song by a depressed man that doesn't forgive himself, not a drug-fucked junkie waiting for his next hit. "I send all the time My request for relief, down the dead power lines" - I sincerely believe he means he has asked for help so many times, accepted so many hands, but now he feels as a boy who cried wolf, like he asked for too much, he can no longer get relief because he's sending his request down cut-off power lines, his life sources, he no longer receives, he just requests. Passing feeling - Happiness itself, once you get to a stage Elliott obviously reached with depression and so on, being truly happy is an EXTREMELY rare occasion, trust me on that. But this line could mean many, many, many things, it's quite a wide metaphor, so I think it's very sad that so many of you just straight off the bat aim for it as a drug reference, really think about it, I mean, come on, if you know anything about Elliott and his lyrical style, you'd realize that he's quite subtle, yet he seems to send off a similar message through almost all of his songs, a lot of you seem to see it as a message about drugs, but I think you need to spend a bit of time in that mind of yours and start thinking a bit bigger, Elliott is not simplistic, he's a lyrical genius. |
Elliott Smith – A Passing Feeling Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I feel such pity on you and your infantile mind, you have no chance of ever truly understanding Elliott, as is made quite clear by your statements, you poor, ignorant child. |
Elliott Smith – A Passing Feeling Lyrics | 13 years ago |
You're a moron, you'd be better off listening to Green Day or MCR, rather than Elliott, obviously you can't comprehend his lyrical metaphors and certainly don't appreciate them. |
Elliott Smith – A Passing Feeling Lyrics | 13 years ago |
You really have no idea about the person you're listening to. The city he blew to hell is his own life, everything he created crumbled, caused by the fuses he lit. If you had any sort of psychologically metaphorical way of interpreting things like Elliott did, you'd realize that when he says "Took a long time to stand, took an hour to fall", he means it took him a life time to build his city, his castle, but it took him only a very short time to destroy it all. Elliott speaks of a bigger picture, he's not just focusing primarily on one certain thing, like his drug addiction. You colossal fools who believe almost every one of his songs is about drugs, you just have no idea at all about who this man was or the meaning he was trying to get across. This song could be about many things, loss, death, debt, friendships, relationships, life itself, but the first thing you somehow decipher from it is "DRUGS!", it really is quite demeaning to Elliott's caliber of lyrical quality and to your own lacking intelligence to assume such small-minded things. |
Elliott Smith – A Passing Feeling Lyrics | 13 years ago |
How do you know what a dead man hears? He may only hear echoes. |
Elliott Smith – No Name #1 Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Fucking obvious, is it? You're so damn small minded. Ever consider that maybe Elliott Smith thought a bit deeper then that? Maybe by "party", he means life itself, joined the party, and he's just waiting, to leave. I think by "Leave alone", he meant die alone, because he felt he didn't belong here, on this planet, in this life, not at A FUCKING PARTY. That's what he did, isn't it, died alone, so it makes more sense that somebody depressed and lonely wanted to sing about life and death, not something as petty as a party, it goes fucking deeper than that, WAKE UP! |
Elliott Smith – No Name #1 Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Cobain said the same things about his music, but I believe he and Elliott both just didn't want their lyrics being philosophically dissected. They didn't have to worry so much though, obviously most of their fans have no idea what they were singing about, as proven by the many ignorant, ridiculous comments and interpretations on this site. |
