This song sounds great, but the lyrics are pretty sad. The first thing I thought of when I heard the lyrics of the first verse is 9/11. It's obviously something that has affected Gerard a lot - after all, it indirectly led to the creation of MCR - and it's interesting that he's chosen to weave it into this song, condsidering how many years have now passed since the bombing. It's the chorus that really sounds sad. The lines, "If there's a place that I could be / Then I'd be another memory," tied in with what's said in the verses ... he's essentially saying that he wishes he were dead, that he had died with his friends. It's very depressing. I hope the band will reveal more about their characters for this album. This storyline already seems infinitely more interesting than that of The Black Parade. |
