Interesting remarks about the environment and world degradation interpretation. I guess its quite valid and LP thought about it while writing the song. However I also believe a more personal/individual interpretation is possible. Mostly beacause of the subjects "I" and "you" used. For example, to who would he saying "don't apologize", or "you were lost in the beating of the storm"? A possibility could be him addressing god, like "don't feel sorry for us, it's our fault", and "men were blind doing war and you were not there priority anymore" But it seems more plausible to have him simply addressing some girl ("you", "I", and "we" therefore take a more straightforward interpretation), with who he messed up the relation ("burned the bridge"), that he regrets it, but is able to admit that anyway, it wasn't "meant to be", and that he didn't deserve it, due to his "behaviour". |
