as a metal head i have to say...... i love ABBA and i don't give a FUCK what anyone thinks when they walk in and my stereo goes from Dead Skin Mask to Take a Chance, i love those swedish girls ^_^ S.O.S. is perhaps my favorite ABBA song. i like all the different feelins i get from each part, its dark and melancholy-ish then its a hopeful but sad tone like "are you listening, we could fix this" cuz "when your gone how could i even try to go on." but thats just what i get from it. |

well..... i certainly dig it. one day i could be that smooth ;]P but fer real i like this song its got a spice to it. it evokes the imagination, for example: "man its a hot one, like 7 inches from the mid day sun" i see in my head perhaps a slightly red hue on a beach during midday and you can see the heat waves rising off the sand from the rays of the sun, everybody there (maybe at a beachside bar) is sweating and look obviously racked from the heat.... except her, no, she looks as though she's perfectly cool not strained by the heat at all, and she's there with you making you feel cool. and the song goes on to explain his feelers and all that good shit lol. |

i love this song i knew it first by brooks and dunn (their cover) it always made me feel good but i never quite got it, I know what he meant but now that i have my own "Maria" i feel whats being said. the lyrics perfectly describe how i feel when i think about her, the first line i especially identify with "My Maria don't you know I've come a long, long way" because i really have come a long, long way just to be with her and well.... when she's around she takes my blues away. ever want this macho man to feel mushy just play this. |

i'm going to disagree, however i do feel that a few of the songs were fairly mangled. it was a good movie nonetheless. i dont see any problems with doing Beatles covers as long as it does some justice. I am the Walrus was... well i thought it was so cool. Happiness is a Warm gun was done so fuckin right i dig it. but those are the good examples. i want to hold your hand was bad and i despise the way All You Need is Love was done. they worked for the movie but when i'm listening to the sound track they are instant skips. i'm not trying to argue i'm just voicing my opinion. ^_^ |

this songs got a special place in my feelers, i've been practicing and practicing this song so i can perform it for my girl when i get to her. its always been one of my favorites but after i had seen her face and cant forget the time or place where we met the song began to mean more to me than it used to. |

agreed, beatles cover often blow pretty hard however i adore Across the Universe and its sound track granted as far as i'm concerned a few of the songs were a bit wonky the way they were done but overall it was a killer success to me. this is one of my favorite tracks. don't flame me, but what i get from this is close to what JO5EPH said, putting on a facade or a false "yeah IF i needed someone it would be you" when inside its more of a "i DO need someone" i dunno why but thats what i get from it. the one line: "had you come another day then i might not have been like this but you see now i'm in to much love." almost sounds like he's saying if i hadnt met you when i did how i did i might not feel the same but because i did i'm all kinds of in love. but its being played down so he doesnt sound desperate....or, OR it really is a booty call :/ i dunno but thats what i get from it. |

at first i thought by "The wizard" he meant pinball wizard, it was released 1969 though, not in '68. Why? i just thought that may've been an influence you know "In memories of 68 when the wizard shook the world" and @zuqhiaq i'll bet you're right, through that whole album odd little Judas Priest references seem to be thrown in. |

@rustyd1: Dude, 100% correct, What i see in this song is pretty much saying he's gone through some real shit through his life (be it coming out or anything else) and hes had losses, but he's still him, the same as ever. and "the truth is like a chain" meaning in all reality its all the same, maybe shown differently but still the same.And in the song when the tempo speeds up i think hes proving just how hardcore he really/still is. and its probably just me but through the whole album it seems like he's throwing in some odd little Judas Priest references, it makes me giggle. |

Well actually Rob Halford is the one who wrote it, he was the singer in Fight. and since he wrote it he had the rights to it, so he kept it and played it live and whatnot, much like the song Nailed to The Gun.
