Devin Townsend – Color Your World Lyrics 7 years ago
It seems to me (Might be overthinking it) that what Devin is trying to say here is that we ultimately don't have free will. His line "see how the ways of the world keep lying to me, see how the weight of the world keeps lying on me" is pretty much like saying what we see isn't reality and yet we still have to deal with the full weight of that reality even though we have no clue what it is.
Even the phrase "I concede to life" could mean that you've essentially let the universe take the wheel. Ziltoids whole conquest was for control and power over space and time, but it's impossible as he is only a tiny component of both. I think that's when he hits the "I'M ZILTOID I DON'T GIVE A SHIT" stage, it's his ego not being able to come to terms with the fact that he is completely powerless and has no control. But after the ego fades the part of the song comes in saying that even if we have no control we are free to enjoy and love the present moment. We are riding the wave of causality that the universe has already set out for us and any action we've taken is essentially predetermined already, we are a puppet to the universe. Even the Omnidimensional creator stated that he was a puppet. The universe is pulling our strings. None of us chose the universe to exist as much as we didn't choose our own existence but you can accept that and still see that in the end the experience we're given is still so damn beautiful.

I fucking love this universe and I fucking love Devin Townsend

System of a Down – Know Lyrics 15 years ago
I just had a read through the lyrics again, and thought that this song could have been about japanese suicide bombers. I mean, "valley of the walls" may have been a referal to the japanese soldiers still in China during the rape of Nanking. And the reference to "have you ever tried to fly, have you ever wanted to die" could be talking about the training camps where the japanese were brainwashed to be suicidal in an attempt to protect Japan. also the lyrics "the land where women chant as they fly up to the sun" could be refering to the ideal of Japans sun being the thing they're fighting to protect. "yellow wings" is also a hint towards being about a part of asia. And the "unless you leave your body on the other side" part could be based around the fact that if anyone had left on a suicide mission they were not allowed to return.
