Dave was a drug dealer before he got into music and in the end, he ended up overdosing for many years straight. This leads me to think that, in combination with the news reports at the end concerning drugs smuggling and conflict, that the "scorpion" is drugs, and the victim is smugglers. You'll hear what you want to hear, that it's well paid for little effort and you've only got to carry it over the border, but if you ever get caught or get addicted it affects you for life. |

I think this is a song about how we all have these massive hopes and dreams which we could achieve if we put the time in, but our "Weevil Brides", as they were, drag us down and stop us going places. So many people put down a lifelong accomplishment after their wife/husband gets irked by how it interferes with their selfish desires, and just settle back into the mundane family life, before eventually they're forgotten and their potential is wasted. |

Katsushika is the first name of famous Japanese Ukiyo-e block print artist Hokusai. I'm guessing this song is about his works, the most famous of which is The Great Wave with features a wave towering above Japan and spiralling off into infinity. |
