Karnivool – Umbra Lyrics 13 years ago
While travelling down the path to freedom, Simple Boy enters a depression due to his new worldview. those around him no longer understand him, and he risks further alienation should he not pretend to be one of the slaves. However, he finds the limited feelings and emotions of the slave to be too confining.

Being awake amongst millions of comatose people. Lots of people choose to escape back to the lull of unconsciousness. Simple Boy tries (I'll sleep till its over and I'm sober again), but he knows too much now. eventually, you wake back up and you're right where you used to be. Unfortunately, the more you learn about how the world works, the more you realize how little you truly know.

Thankfully, this depression doesn't last long, and Simple Boy decides to make a stand. He begins to write down his understanding (All I know), which will soon become his personal law.

Karnivool – Set Fire To The Hive Lyrics 13 years ago
Simple Boy now has a worldview, which he explains to the semi-awake (fog) person he's now encountered.

No longer does he choose to adhere to the acts, statutes, and codes of his enslavers. Simple Boy has learned that the entire world (Politics/Religion) is just a game. and he can unplug the cartridge and play a different game should he wishes. He has no answer for why everyone obeys the rules, especially because nobody actually explains the rules.

The God of this game convinces his children that they're slaves, and informs them that they've been sold again. The video for this song makes it very clear that the God they're referring to is the same God in NIN's "Capital G" (GAOTU - "Great Architect of The Universe" of Freemasonry).

Simple Boy's solution is, therefore, to leave the prison, and suggests destroying it while you leave. the prison is fiction, a faceless illusion (every country on earth is merely a Corporation - a fictional stack of papers). until you leave it, you will continue to be sold and deceived.

Karnivool – New Day Lyrics 13 years ago
Simple Boy is coming to terms with his consciousness. he's awake and alone. Goliath (the keepers of his prison) found him, and stripped him of everything he felt was important.

a New Day, he is now travelling the path to his freedom. Simple Boy realizes that others are watching. some are trying to keep him from achieving his freedom. some are merely wanting to be saved.

Simple Boy is hoping that the few people that he actually wants to follow are able to watch what he's doing, provided they stop waiting for someone else to save them and instead make the effort to save themselves.

Karnivool – Goliath Lyrics 13 years ago
After Simple Boy discovers that he can leave his prison at any time, he starts to wake up.

he then starts trying to wake up those around him. unfortunately, they're dependent on the system for safety, comfort, and their limited survival.

When the keepers of the mental prison realize he's awake, they show up again. But now, their heads are on the chopping board due to the lies they've perpetuated.

I get the feeling that Simple Boy realizes that he's in this alone by the end of the song, but continues further to his freedom. there are none so hopelessly enslaved as those who feel they are free.

Karnivool – Simple Boy Lyrics 13 years ago
Simple Boy, after realizing that he is on the path to nothingness and ruin, on a "sinking ship", is given the choice to fight or drown on his path.

Accidentally, it seems, Simple Boy learns that his path, his servitude, his prison, is all a choice he didn't realize he made. Any time he wants to leave, he's "Free to go".

His captors, however, encourage him to stay here, to not wander, because he's "safe".

The rest of the album, after this song, is Simple Boy's journey out of his self-made prison.

Karnivool – All I Know Lyrics 13 years ago
This is the Karnivool's Notice of Understanding and Intent.

From Black's Law Dictionary:
Understanding: an agreement to "stand under", or be bound by, the terms of a contract.

In all common law jurisdictions under the British Empire (Australia, Great Britain, Canada, New Zealand, etc), you can send a notice to the government, informing them what your understanding of the world is. Further, you inform them what your personal laws are, and how you are going to live your life. Lawyers and Law Students in these countries have been encouraged to remove themselves from being bound by all the acts, statutes, and codes of their particular country of origin. The rest of us (slaves) are never told that we can do this. Seems someone told the band. :)

If you do a google search for "Notice of Understanding and Intent and Claim of Right", you will see much of what is being spoken here, in a "Whereas it is my understanding" form. The main source of this movement is currently Robert-Arthur: Menard from http://www.thinkfree.ca, but there are many others around the world doing the exact same thing as him.

it seems that Ian Kenny's understanding is that he's a Soul Taker (Taking control of his corporate strawman account), and a Cruel-Witted mind. That's his prerogative.

Are you with him? Are you of like mind?

In my personal NoUI/CoR, filed over a year ago, I claimed the right to control my corporate strawman, the right to use hallucinogens, the right to use public transportation and schools without paying for them, and a fee schedule ($20,000 per hour if arrested/detained/handcuffed). it was accepted by all parties sent to, and it has actually gotten me out of civil and criminal court cases (I don't adhere to their codes/acts/statutes anymore).

Once his NoUI/CoR is accepted, he can walk free free of gravity because he has severed his umbilical wires (i.e. being considered a child of the state/province).

in fact, this entire album's theme is of personal sovereignty, once you learn what the hell it is he's talking about: a young boy who learns he doesn't have to be a slave anymore, and the path he takes to being considered competent to manage his own affairs.
