| Karate – Concrete Lyrics | 10 years ago |
|
Reticent she returns to the streets Where she once floated above in hospital sheets Hands on the walls where small handprints still weigh With the burden of crimson indelible paints Where are the hands that once fit these young prints? What have they grabbed at ever since? Nights used to be dangerous here But now the mornings have exceeded her deepest fears Because that's when the concrete creeps in And perpetrates with more than the greatest sins And weighs down on what used to be known as the neighborhood Deliberate, slow, destructive defeat As new corners consolidate the neighborhood streets Where are the ones she stepped with right here Below the bar, now a bank clad with anonymous steel? Where are the sounds of the children once heard? Replaced with new parking and yellowed-out curbs Now she can only afford to return For a doctor, an in-law, or a day in the sun Some still cling, if the building still stands Some sing liberation from felonious hands But most will get lost in the peripheral sprawl Where new handprints signify on old concrete walls Florescent excuses for light Steal all the shadows from the night From the night Parody or progress? You just want to tear it down As you're standing right in the middle of the wrong side of town Florescent excuses for light Steal all the shadows from the night From the night Parody or progress? You just want to tear it down As you're standing right in the middle of the wrong side of town |

| Sondre Lerche – Private Caller Lyrics | 11 years ago |
|
Sondre's interested in a girl, but she doesn't want to commit, and he's stuck as a "private caller:" a small secret kept "on the other end," away from the rest of her life. Yet, Sondre persists. He slowly gets closer to her, despite the wall she put up around her. Will he win her over? Who knows? |

| 764-HERO – Loaded Painted Red Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
I'm always disappointed when there aren't any interpretations posts, especially on really indie songs like this. I feel like I'm the only person on Earth right now thinking about this. I'm not too sure about the meaning, but I imagine of the speaker being with one other person, maybe a girl. I think "loaded painted red" means that whoever the speaker was with became drunk, and their face turned red from it. "You decided on the best disorder" could refer to alcoholism or maybe drug abuse. The part about "dropping matches" makes me think that they were smoking, too, or possibly even burning things down. The disorder would be pyromania in that case. Either way, it's my favorite line from the song. |

| You made a mistake. It's actually "LA LA LA LA LUH LA." | |
| Gorillaz – Amarillo Lyrics | 13 years ago |

| Your Twenties – Annie Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| Anything we should know about your change? | |
| Throw Me The Statue – The Old Believer Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
I believe it's about a man who's lost all of his faith in God, and does whatever he wants without guilt. He's in a church with a theist, trying to make him see his point of view. The "Old Believer" is a crucified Jesus statue. His suggestion to take a "ride on the old believer," as in literally climbing on the statue, is a metaphor for sinning without shame. "Tell me how it's wrong." "Holy clocks have all gone home" could mean that no matter how long you wait, you'll never find proof of your faith. And the "criminal interest" taking hold is his result of not believing. If no one's really watching you, what's the point? |

|
"Don't leave me in the trivia" He doesn't want to be another easily forgotten, unimportant person. |
|
| Bibio – Artists' Valley Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| I think it's about the minute details and significance found in the ostensibly trivial that provoke thoughts in the mind of an artist. | |
| Boards of Canada – The Color of the Fire Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| I'm imagining an android robot girl trying to comprehend emotion. | |
| Throw Me The Statue – Moonbeams Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
Some corrections: "Impressions of struggle were all I gained" "Impressions of struggle were all I gave" "And Grandpa's clothes and shelves" "And Grandpa's closet shelves" "??" "I invent and retrace and unfold" "When you clutch at the glistener drink" "When you clutch at the bliss in a dream" "I circle the reasons" "I search for the reasons" |

| Crayonsmith – All The Elders Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| The lyrics are 100% correct. I've contacted Ciarán confirming them. | |

| Sugar Ray – New Direction Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| Sugar Ray started as a more metal-orientated band. This song, being the opener for the album, shows the "new direction" they're taking with their musical style. | |

| Christianity promises eternal life, but Murdoc promises a chance to be his footstool. | |
| Gorillaz – Murdoc Is God Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| The song clearly says "Johnny is dead," but no one is going to correct the lyrics, because that's how this site works. | |
| Gorillaz – Highway (Under Construction) Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| These lyrics are probably way off, but I can't tell. I stopped trying to make sense of Gorillaz song lyrics long ago, but I still love every song. | |
| Modest Mouse – Custom Concern Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| No, it's definitely "fall." It's in the lyric booklet, too. | |

| Throw Me The Statue – Ship Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
Relax behave We're almost fit Let's hide in brave posts, animate What's here what's left It even keels The blinking shadow and the light And so we learned from a grave fair That reason was five pints in We too, far off We too, can hear It gives us cause to wonder of loss It's all right, I'm in It's all right, I'm in One birth, one hope A mythic tuck To be what can be always The sleep, a sea A dizzy sea About sickness, reaction Let us return to the sinking ship The comfort is all too much Call up the bridge A needy pass This exit's aching Thin ??? and wheel Oh she comes alive Breaking the hearts of old men With the sleeping peel Oh here, Oh she comes alive Breaking the hearts of moment With the sleeping peel Oh here, Oh she comes alive Breaking the hearts of old men With the sleeping peel Oh here, Oh she comes alive Breaking the hearts of old men With the sleeping peel Oh here Just turn the ??? wheel Maintain the lonely voice Just turn the ??? wheel Maintain the lonely voice Just turn the ??? wheel Maintain the lonely voice (It's all right, I'm in) Just turn the ??? wheel Maintain the lonely voice (It's all right, I'm in) |

|

| It sounds like he's burning up for her love. | |
| Modest Mouse – Horn Intro Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Actually, a song is defined as music with words. | |
| Starfucker – Miss You Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
The song starts out with and answering machine beep and a slowed down voice can be heard talking. There are also several more beeps throughout the song. I thought it was interesting that the song is called "Miss You," like a guy keeps calling a girl but she never answers anymore. Maybe he did something he regrets and she doesn't want to talk to him, or the song could be much darker and she's actually dead. |

|

|
| Death Cab for Cutie – Grapevine Fires Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I noticed that one of the lines says "Prayers for rain." There's a song by The Cure of the same title. Along with its meaning in "Grapevine Fires," maybe it's a reference, considering that DCFC covered "Lovesong," another Cure song. | |
