i think that this song is about life in general AND about the band's situation with it's members. when they say, "welcome to the family" they're talking to Arin because they always referred to their band as a family and since they're really considering Arin as a permenant member, they're kind of welcoming him in a way. (a very dysfunctional way...but ya know...) in the chorus however, i think that when they say "this fight" i think they mean life, like they're saying no one really wins in the end. when they say, "details blurry, lost him too early" they are referring to Jimmy. well, thats my take on it anyways. i think that this song has a mixture of meanings, it just depends on what angle you look at it from. |

well the meaning is pretty obvious, as it goes along with the new Alice in Wonderland movie. but i think that if you take some lines away from it, it could have a very deep meaning. like, "the girl who drank the wine and took the pill, has locked herself in limbo to see how it truely feels, to stand outside your virtue, so one can ever hurt you, or so they say..." and i feel like it's about someone who drinks and does drugs to numb themselves from the pain of everything, only to find that it's only a temporary fix. hence the, "or so they say.." and then when they say, "Sometimes the curiosity can kill the soul but leave the pain and every ounce of innocence that's left inside her brain." i feel like it's about someone who wants to know so much more about life than they can really handle, and it ends up hurting them and stealing away their innocence.
maybe i'm reading too much into it, but i just wanted to put a different spin on it. oh well. |

to be perfectly honest, i never saw this as a religious song at all. maybe it's because i'm not overly religious in general? i don't know. but i saw this as kind of like a near-desperate love song. "take what you want from me, it means nothing now. take everything from me, it means nothing now." i feel like it was someone admitting to their significant other that they love them so much, they can just take whatever they want, even if the other person doesn't totally feel the same way. i feel like they ahve a lot of issues but one of them is still willing to give it all, because without the other, their life is nothing. |

ok, so, i've done my fair share of obsessing over this band, (still obsessing actually XD) but, in an interview with matt, he said that Jimmy came up to him, handed him the tape with this song on it, and said, "this is it man, this is my last song. i put all that i've got left into it. i'm done." and three days later, Jimmy died. now, i'm not saying that he committed suicide, but maybe, sometimes, people can just...tell when it's time, ya know? but i believe that this song was kind of like Jimmy's way of comforting the boys, telling them that he wants them to keep going, that things will be okay, "i know you'll find your own way when i'm not with you, tonight." so yea, i think that this was just his comforting, "p.s." to his death. |

this song is about the late Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan. when they say, "hold onto faith as i dig another grave, meanwhile the mice endure the wheel" they're referring to Jimmy's death as the grave (for obvious reasons) and the mice enduring the wheel is the rest of the guys in the band just trying to survive and go through the motions without Jimmy by their side. theyre saying how, without Jimmy, it just feels like they've been buried alive, like even though they're alive, theyre not really living. i honestly think that this song was them getting out some of their anger over Jimmy's death. i'm not saying they were mad at him, but going through the loss of a friend can be frustrating for some people, everybody grieves differently. but yea, i think this song was about Jimmy's death and abotu how he was so young when he died, he was basically buried alive. |

this song is about a few things actually. for one, it's about him finally being clean from drugs and alcohol. (which i personally am very proud of him for) because he was in and out of rehab and dealing with relapses but now he's done with all that. he's back in the game.
it's also about him breaking free of the Illuminati. his whole recovery album was pretty much about that. but throughout the whole song he's pretty much telling off the Illuminati and the higher-ups and declaring his freedom. he's saying hwo he's no longer letting them control his life.
he's also saying, although subtley in parts, that he's getting his priorities straight, and he's going to be more of a father to his daughters, "I promise to focus soley on handling my responsibilities as a father. So I solemnly swear to always treat this roof like my daughter's and raise it." he's saying ho he's done letting fame and drugs get in the way of his relationship with his daughters.
i am very proud of him for getting through all of this.<3

this song is actually about his uncle Ronnie, who, if you don't know, killed himself when Marshall was young because of a bad relationship. but Ronnie was like a father to him. but anyway, it's about a relationship that started out good, but then, feelings started to change, but they never seemed to be on the same page about it. it's about how he loved the girl, told her everything, completely trusted her, but she betrayed him in one form or another. and he becomes so emotional over it, that he kills her and ultimately ends up killing himself as well.

this song came from the movie 8 Mile. and it's all about his climb to fame. how even though his home life is terrible, he's not gong to let that sotp him from getting what he deserves. it's about how even though so many people don't like him, he's not going to let that stop him from making it to the top. he's saying that writing and rapping are his way to get all of his emotions, and if people really have a problem with it, well, it sucks to be them. he's saying how he refuses to give up, that he'll do whatever it takes to make it to the bigtime. hence the last couple of lines, "if i gotta scream till i have half a lung, if i have half a chance i grab it, rabbit run." |

i personally don't think that this song has to be thought of in a religious sense. i think that it CAN be about god, but when i first heard it, i thought it was about someone calling out for help when they were going through depression. they were calling on a love, or a best friend, not god per say. it reminded me of what i went through for a while. everyday people pretend to be okay so that others don't think that they are weak, then they get to their breaking point, and that's what this song is about. the ones who don't show their sadness are the ones you need to worry about the most. |

its pretty obvious that people like this song. but now onto what this site is for. this song is obviously about depression, you don't need to listen to it more than once to figure that out. but look deeper into Eminems life and these lyrics and you can see its about how he went through a rough period when the price of fame and the Illuminati started to kick in. that whole first verse is about how he's become so depressed because the higher-ups took control of his life. "i feel down and got right back up" is sayng that he is starting to take back control of his life. and when he says "i know one fact i'll be one tough act to follow, one tough act to follow, I'll be one tough act to follow, here today, gone tomorrow," he's acknowledging the fact that he is probably gonna get taken down by the higher-ups for rapping like this. i know not a lot of people know about/believe in the Illuminati stuff, but that's what this is about. |
