She isn't trying to insult gay people. The word "gay" isn't supposed to be seen as an insult either. I mean, she wrote a song about how she kissed a girl and she liked it and later said she really DID kiss a girl, so why would she be ragging on homosexuals after that? Seriously, it's a humorous song. She is meaning, this boy is just really self-absorbed, and she's saying he should have been gay, since he loves himself too much. You know? So don't take anything personaly or anything. |

I think it's about two people who were and/or still want to be in a relationship, but something isn't working out and it's making it pretty much impossible to go through with it. And he's saying he is letting go/has let go, after he promised they would be together. And, she hasn't let go yet, and he doesn't know how to tell her. But, it really is hurting him that he has to let go because he doesn't want to, and that's why he's say "and we both go down together, we may stay there forever. I'll just try to get up."
