The Knife – A Tooth For An Eye Lyrics | 11 years ago |
It's almost impossible for me to discern the lyrics. However, the song is amazing, especially with headphones on. It's magical. |
The Knife – Full Of Fire Lyrics | 11 years ago |
Part of the lyrics sound like "liberals giving me a nerve pinch," but maybe that's where it was edited to say, "Wake me while I'm..." idk |
Crystal Castles – I Am Made of Chalk Lyrics | 11 years ago |
This song is so beautiful, but in an extremely tragic and disturbing way. ugh |

Zeigeist – Cuffs Lyrics | 11 years ago |
Amazing song. |
Muse – Survival Lyrics | 11 years ago |
Don't forget to think about this song in context to the album. While I'm sure they happened to coincide with a message of strength for the Olympics, I think this song in context to the album is one of objectivism. "An economy based on unsustainable growth" and all that, this song must be the vantage point of someone who is clearly the one crashing it into the ground. Their selfish, competitive, capitalistic ideals are crashing the world into the ground. I really love it. I love Muse, man, their album themes are so beautiful. I thought things couldn't get any better than Resistance, but I was CLEARLY wrong. |
Marina and the Diamonds – Power and Control Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Women and men we are the same, But love, but love must be a game, We even take (?) a little more And turn a ____ talking war (?) |
Florence + the Machine – Blinding Lyrics | 12 years ago |
"Snow white's stitching up the circuit boards," I believe, refers the infiltration of the US government by Scientologists in the 1970s. To prove to the government that they weren't really fucking weird, Scientologists, composed of no less than 5000 people, hacked, wiretapped, and infiltrated 136 goverment agencies and destroyed all government records that portrayed them in a negative light. Now, the context to the song is an analogy on some sort of vague premise of "Eternal Sunshine Of the Spotless Mind." If you haven't seen Eternal Sunshine Of the Spotless Mind, you should. Because it's awesome. And will help you understand this song better. |
The Knife – You Make Me Like Charity Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I know this has nothing to do with the X-Men, but for some reason this song, and a lot of other songs from Deep Cuts, remind me of the X-Men. Silent Shout, too. It's odd |
The Knife – Silent Shout Lyrics | 12 years ago |
This is definitely based on the Black Hole comic series. xD But to each his/her own. |
iamamiwhoami – Play Lyrics | 12 years ago |
So fucking beautiful. |
Marina and the Diamonds – Homewrecker Lyrics | 12 years ago |
This so is so great. I love it. Can't wait for the new album. |
iamamiwhoami – Sever Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I think this song, by the video, has to do with a miscarriage and the heavy grief that comes with it. It ties into 20101104 and Y because we see a window with a white room and tries behind her for the first minute 'n a half of the video. And if you look at the positioning, the window with the white/trees actually is in the apartment next to her. She goes to hold her stomach while looking out the wide open windows, and sings the line "it's why we can't rely/ally and elope tonight," but suddenly gets very tense and somewhat angry looking. I think she was about to jump out of the window before the thing saved her. You can tell she resisted him, obviously, but them submitted. Towards the end of this video we see it and her dancing off into the room where we can't see, and when she travels back into our view, she's dancing by herself and there is no thing. I feel like kin (the audio-visual album) is going to be really inspired by loss, darkness, and family ties, hence the name of kin. Sever is haunting, and dark, and beautiful. We'll just have to see in drops I guess, though. It's hard to wait fourteen days for something so beautiful. |

Lana Del Rey – Lolita Lyrics | 12 years ago |
It's spelled Lolita on her new Born To Die Album. So... |
Lana Del Rey – Diet Mountain Dew Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Except that isn't a lyric correction, per se. O.o |
Lana Del Rey – Diet Mountain Dew Lyrics | 12 years ago |
These are severely out of order. |
Lana Del Rey – Born to Die Lyrics | 12 years ago |
For me this song holds a kind of nihilistic, Nietzche stance on life. The whole kinda', "life has no meaning, but let's just keep living and do what we want and live, and then when we die we die." If that makes any sense. Also, the quote at the beginning, "is this by mistake or design" alludes to, I think, a kind of philosophical/religious question. "Life's short and there's nothing after this, so just live" but with a pessimistic twist. |
Peter Gabriel – Darkness Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I agree--this is definitely the best song on the album. I can't get it out of my head. |
Peter Gabriel – Intruder Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Lots of artists write or sing about darker subjects. With Peter Gabriel, I feel like his music is theatrical. Not only does it tell stories, but they all embody characters or a group of people. He puts his mind in roles of other things and writes from their perspectives. |
Peter Gabriel – My Body Is A Cage (Arcade Fire cover) Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I, too, heard this song on House. So haunting and SO powerful. Along with this I've heard San Jacinto, and if the rest of his music is anything like either of those two songs, alksdjfal;shdg;ab |
Peter Gabriel – San Jacinto Lyrics | 12 years ago |
My winterguard is using this song as our theme, and it's absolutely beautiful but sad. Our show embraces all of the qualities the song is about, but with more of a twist. Every time his voice peaks I get chills. There's just so much power in his music al;sdkjfhap;olshidbakl |
Menomena – Air Aid Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I think the "Bring me the kite tied to the key, covered in fire, downpour, thunder laced with lightning," refers to a discovery that brought the end. I feel like this song is post-apocalyptic, too, and because of this groundbreaking discovery, it changed everything...but not in a good way. The beeping that happens in the background reminds me of something related to Fallout, but I can't quite put my finger on it. Basically the song is saying, "This is the destruction that humanity (her) brought upon [her]self. -shrugs- |
Adele – Rumour Has It Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Hey, Stephernoodle, you don't know what the fuck you're talking about, so shut you're fucking mouth. Things could've already been falling apart in the home. And it's equally the husband's fault. All this shit where people blame the cheat-e is, well, shit. So hop off her dick you stupid cunt. You have no right to judge her. YOU'RE judging her, and it makes you look like the disgusting one. This makes me so mad, you have no idea. @cutewhensedated, I'm assuming you're a woman. Sorry if you aren't. xD |
Jay-Z & Kanye West – Illest Motherfucker Alive Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I love what this whole album stands for, and the fact that the entire, what, two minutes of this song is blank? It's fucking genius. |
Florence + the Machine – What the Water Gave Me Lyrics | 12 years ago |
How? I had to pause and play T again, to make sure it wasn't just me. Yes, they are both fucking amazing and beautiful...but how are the two songs similar? xD Maybe, just maybe, the beginning of What the Water Gave Me sounds like T. But that's more just wanting to hear it in the song. ._. |
Florence + the Machine – Leave My Body Lyrics | 12 years ago |
let me also say, because it seems I can't edit my comment and this is the first time I've commented, That I think it isn't just spirituality (I forgot about the first verse). I think it's something a little more occlut-ish than that. "I'm gonna be released from behind these lines And I don't care whether I live or die And I'm losing blood, I'm gonna leave my bones And I don't want your heart it leaves me cold" 1st line talking about getting free, no bonds to people, etc, like I mentioned. However, the 2nd and 3rd hint at maybe dying and risking a chance of after life, leaving behind her body and carrying on with just her soul. Talking about moving to "higher ground" maybe she's either commiting suicide to leave everything behind, or something. But I think it does have to deal with death, too. |
Florence + the Machine – Leave My Body Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Yes, this isn't about sex at all, especially not a one night stand. That's a very shallow interpretation. xD I feel it's about relationships, saying she's leaving them behind for something greater--possibly her spirituality. "I don't want your future, I don't need your past," and "I don't need a husband, don't need no wife," she's basically saying she doesn't need relationships. She doesn't want a future with someone, she doesn't want to deal with the past of her old ones. She doesn't necessarily care about gender, either. She just doesn't want to be a part of any of it. Even when she says, "I don't want the clouds, they never seem to stay," is another hint that this might be about relationships. They always come and go. "I'm gonna leave my body (moving up to higher ground) I'm gonna lose my mind (History keeps pulling me down)" The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd lines seem to hint at the spirituality. She'd rather have a higher, metaphysical connection than with a person (hence "moving up to higher ground). Saying, "I'm gonna' leave my body," reminds me of out of body experience in religion, and things like that. That's what I think of, kinda'. Then the 4th line, "history keeps pulling me down," I think is referring to how she always get dragged back into it, perhaps. Regardless of her feelings and wanting to leave dating/relationships behind for something greater, she keeps remembering her past and wanting to start again. That's just my two cents, anyways. Song interpretations aren't just wishy-washy, people. They aren't always about sex, money, or fame. ESPECIALLY if we're talking about an artist like Florence + the Machine. ._. |
Coldplay – Don't Panic Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Hitchhiker's Guide isn't the greatest book ever, but I do suggest everyone read it. It's funny and I quite adored Ford Prefect. Good song, by the way. I love that they do put references to the book, but they don't use a sarcastic, witty lyric (which is rather how the book is written). |
iamamiwhoami – N Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Those aren't baby bottles in the video. I think it refers to the fact that Mandrakes grow in waste places. That's why I feel like she has things in the videos like a crown and scepter made of foil, and the gown of plastic bottles (though not baby bottles). I don't see a religious aspect in this song...at all. =/ |
Fever Ray – If I Had a Heart Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Well, watching the video, there are many people suggesting that this alludes to the Illuminati sacrificing children. Not only that, but why would those symbols be on the house, and the many, many sets of antlers hanging all around the house. Not to mention the fact that children are being lured there, and the many dead people seen. Talking from the point of view of the being that they're supposed to see on the other side. "this will never end cause i want more more, give me more, give me more" The sacrifices will never end, it wants more. More children, more sacrifices. "if i had a heart i could love you if i had a voice i would sing after the night when i wake up i'll see what tomorrow brings" If the being had a heart, it might love, if it had a voice it could comfort. When it returns, it'll see what other people have been brought to it, metaphorically speaking. "dangling feet from window frame will i ever ever reach the floor? more, give me more, give me more" The first two lines are a child's voice, which is why the pitch/tone/such changes. Maybe hinting at the prospect of escaping from the grasp of sacrifice, or maybe the numerous other children that rumour to be kept for sexual rituals, and then killed. Will they ever be able to escape? Can they ever gain freedom? Then the last line, the being is talking again. "More, give me more," more children, sacrifices, etc. We also see her in her very infamous make-up, black and white, teeth and a skull. The haunting of a child's spirit in the aforementioned afterlife. Empty, desolate, dark, terrifying. Then again, I really think this video also sums up the very inhuman quality of Fever Ray/Karin. The point of her work isn't to be herself, but to become something else. We see wolves that never quite get caught on camera, the antlers hung as prizes every where, the numerous [indigenous?] people, luring of children. Something monstrous, inhuman, and almost demonic about this song. It isn't merely [just] about postpartum depression. |
Lady GaGa – Scheiße Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Yeah, you're kinda' right. When she sings, "I don't speak German but I can if you'd like," and when she says, "I don't speak German but I wish I could," she's being kinda' literal, in the song's sense. "Ich schleiban austa be clair, es kumpent madre monstère, aus-be aus-can-be flaugen, begun be üske but-bair Parts of this are French, German, English, Spanish, and I think one or two words Italian. So, yeah. Instead of saying what she intends, which is, "Ich Bin Mir Absolut Klar Ich trag den Namen Monster Wir sind alle Familie." She's kind of being funny. |
Lady GaGa – Bloody Mary Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Oh, I lied. xD I looked up the digital booklet. It's not Punk-tius, or punctures. It's Pontius. @Jabuleen I thought she was using a kind of word-play on a Christian reference, but I was wrong. |
Lady GaGa – Bloody Mary Lyrics | 13 years ago |
When she says "Pontius," she's actually saying "Punk-tius." I thought it was clever. And those first lyrics by jommy are /really/ wrong. xD |
