I've always felt that "Rest and relaxation, rocket to my brain" is the perfect description of an orgasm. |

"I always took this a little bit tongue-in-cheek. I can't find anything that David Byrne says about it, so maybe I am wrong." I'm of the same opinion, nocheapthrill. I've always assumed that Byrne is somewhat of an environmentalist, especially since he is such a biking-enthusiast. I can't imagine him sharing the opinion expressed in this song, or at least not to such a strong extent. Though I do find the alternative theory very interesting: "if we were all of a sudden transported to a place like that, we'd have no idea what to do with ourselves." -DevestatorJr. If that's the case, though, maybe Byrne is making a comment on our dependence on such things, rather than simply exalting them. |

You can have exclamation points in your username? Damn it! On topic: Love this song. Wondering about the Dorian Gray reference. |

I agree with you for the most part. But for me, I've always thought the first stanza was about a couple living together, and having sex, due to "we lie on our backs, feet in the air, rest and relaxation, rocket to my brain." The second part follows from this. "Snap into position, bounce bones till you ache" again sounds to me like love making. From then on, though, I do agree with you. I had basically the same impression. |

"Somebody is waiting in the hallway Somebody is falling down the stairs Set someone free, break someone's heart Stand up, help us out Everything is divided Nothing is complete Everything looks impressive Do not be deceived" From what version did these lyrics come? I'm listening to this song off of "Speaking in Tongues" and those two stanzas are not included. |

| Talking Heads – The Girls Want To Be With The Girls Lyrics | 15 years ago |

Ha, Pippin, I got the same feeling from this song. If I had heard it back in high school, I would've had a different opinion. There, most of my friends were girls, and they preferred the company of boys. Now that I'm in college, though, it's very different. My platonic girlfriends there spend most of their time with each other, and I hear from them a lot of anti-boy comments, largely due to some relationship drama llama. ...and then I have a friend at Bryn Mawr who spends all of her time with girls and, coincidentally, just started listening to the Talking Heads. |

I really don't know. I do love this song, though; it's one my favorites, just for how the ending makes me feel. |
